It's nice to watch someone who calls out EA Sports on how they continually treat their consumer and unfortunately the the pass the blame attitude they show as a company. Sadly this put themselves in this position due to neglect and greed from higher ups. I feel bad for the devs caught in the crosshairs which you mentioned need the money and often use working for EA as a way to gain a footing in the video game industry. It'll be a shame if them being branded with this upcoming failure result in many possibly ex employees having a harder time finding work because of being associated with the company instead of EA taking responsibility for not only putting their employees but the company as a whole in this position for over a decade.

It's pretty telling that the only football game I play today is NCAA Football 2005 on my PS2. I miss the days of bringing Jake Delhomme and my Panthers to the Super Bowl, but EA somehow digs a deeper hole every year. My almost 20-year-old game on my 20-year-old console with my 20-year-old controllers that are all on their last breath play better than Madden games made today. They're snappy, the controls are much simpler, the animations are somehow more realistic, and I have way more control over the players. Most importantly, though, is that while the easy difficulties make it more accessible, those games could also be unforgiving on higher difficulties, making you actually try to get better and understand football (what John Madden wanted with the franchise) rather than cheesing the same play over and over and glitching defenses etc. Of course I hope this "last chance" is real and that things do change for the better, but I'm also still perfectly fine not giving EA my money and going back to rebuilding my 0-13 Army team in Dynasty Mode. For a league that is so concerned with "protecting the shield," they have not shown any interest in doing that with EA.

It's really sad man. Many of us have been dedicated fans of this franchise since the 90s. Truly those Xbox/PS2 days were the golden era and it's so sad that exclusive contracts took it all away. I took a 4 year break from madden after madden 19. I had balls teleporting out of my WR hands into the opposing DBs hands. What ruined the game for me other than wild bugs was the ranking system for MUT and the cheese… The cheese was so bad (and still is) that it’s just not enjoyable to vs a person that has 2 plays in their playbook. I had an EA employee tell me after I tried getting my money back for how bad it was and his response was that he hasn’t played madden himself in years and it’s for all the same issues I was complaining about. I believe if 2k was allowed to make NFL games it would wipe the floor with EA and it’s dev team

Like a broken record, I post this on KZbin and Reddit consistently, but I’m throwing all my support behind Maximum Football this year. I like what I’ve been seeing and the developers are very active with the community. EA sports just hasn’t put out a good quality product in years. I play more FIFA than Madden now but can see where they cut corners, but even so, franchise in FIFA is still more fun/in depth than Madden. But even then FIFA has decided to break it off with EA so I’m hoping the NFL wakes up soon to do the same. EA overall has either lost the license or exclusivity to NCAA, FIFA, and Star Wars so if they lost the NFL that may be what shakes up their CEO leadership at the company.

@@taofeeksaka17 Franchise Mode is called Career Mode there, so use Career mode for it, and they add also some things from older PS2 games as "completely new" like Interactive Sim, which had returned in FIFA 21, after the absence on 7th gen consoles, or create-a-club, which was also at FIFA 07 on 6th gen versions and PC. Also, Madden would be better moved to EA Vancouver, even if FUT is almost the same as MUT.

Your opinion about releasing a base game every few years with a handful of roster updates each season before updating the base game is exactly what I've been thinking for years. Imagine an NFL game that has time to be developed and updated without countless bugs and glitches, with a competent franchise mode and even a rewarding experience for MUT players and players of other game modes. It must be a terrible job for developers of Madden who genuinely care about the quality of the game they work on, only to be put in such a time crunch each year they can't make any real progress.

Besides, I don't see how having more time to work on a game can really make it that much worse unless the game tries to be something it's not. You may not like a certain feature or update but ideally it will at least be more smooth running and less buggy than a new game every single year.

Oddly Madden 23 is actually the best Madden in years. I just wish they would do more. 2K5 is still miles ahead of Madden almost 20 years later, that's embarrassing. One problem is Regular season is the only thing that seems important. Why aren't playoff stats important...Like so and so has the most playoff passing tds and rushing tds. And why isn't there full team comparisons... Example if I build a defense that's stout id love to see how my teams defensive numbers compare to the 01 Ravens or 85 Bears.

May I also add the fact is that these games don't even have Cross Play and Cross Progression. If you have a roster on MUT or FUT, you should be able to carry that over to the next game instead of restarting from scratch. How has EA not figured out these mess of games they put out yearly. They deserve to lose all of their licenses.

EA doesn't understand how many games they're not selling only what they are selling. This is a common issue with too big to fail companies like EA. It's not quantifiable so they ignore it but they're leaving a fortune on the table due to how poorly the game is received year after year. I assure you there are millions of people not buying the game every year because of this, that's pack buyers as well. If EA shelved to rebuild from the ground up for even a year, when they released the next Madden it would probably be the best selling release in Madden history.

I wish EA put even an ounce of the same kind of effort they put into making new FIFA’s into madden lol. FIFA may not be the BEST sports game but playing just 5 minutes of the game in any mode, and you can tell it’s a game that the Devs actually do care about. The way the game flows, the crowd/fan interactions with the players after a goal, hell even the UI and menus are miles ahead in quality compared to Madden. FIFA continues to look better and play better annually, when Madden continues to play like madden mobile but at 60FPS

They did this FIFA guys, before FIFA took away their exclusivity rights. They had one last chance to make an amazing world cup game with both the men's and women's world cup being reported in the same game. So did they turn things around? No?! Forget creating a separate game, no it's 2023 come on, way too consumer friendly. Just a tack on side mode. The most bare bones game mode, with TWO stadiums. Yup. They listened alright.

Yeah Madden has been a huge disappointment the past 15 years. It’s funny how 2K8 All American Football is a better game… I will say Madden 23 is a step in the right direction from a gameplay stand point but if 2k had the license all these years it would be 100x better.

LET ME TALK TO YA!! Listen I’ve watched quite a few of your videos on Madden and the bad decisions made on taking away features and so on. While I do agree with some of the statements you’ve made and I do miss the old Madden 05’ style of madden I have yet to hear you say one positive thing about Madden, it’s just all negative all the time. Yes does EA have a monopoly on the NFL simulation game…absolutely. Should 2k be allowed to dip it’s toes into the NFL game market, 100%. However, I’ve owned every Madden since 05’ and while they definitely have gotten a lot of stuff wrong they really have improved it in the last 2 years. These glitches people are having I have not personally experienced once. Again, I can agree with some of your statements but damn the game is not that bad. Something to think about is that back in the mid 2000s when games were on the Xbox, GameCube, PS2, they weren’t NEARLY as expensive to make as they are now with the new generation of consoles. I am in no way trying to change your opinion as your entitled to yours 100% but when reviewing or looking at a game you must look big picture and try to find some positives in it. And yes you may say well 2k is doing it todays world, to that I would say that they too focus on the countless micro transactions just like EA does and there are things they can improve on as well when it comes to franchise mode, gameplay, etc.

Honestly, if you add a character creator, that basically strips any reason for yearly release, people have modded new players into tecmo bowl on nes. I don't play these games, but they wouldn't even need the license then, of course we know the real reason

This is your best commentary yet! Hopefully the masses out there who blindly spend their money on the garbage that Madden has become (and I consider every Madden from 13 on to be garbage) will realize that EA has no care, no concern outside of robbing the gaming community of its monies. The deal that the NFL made with EA for its exclusive rights is nothing more than Faust selling his soul to the devil. And as far as whether Madden 24 will be anything different, we all know that a) it will be buggy, b) overpriced for the quality of the game and c) not worth the expense. May we live for the day when the NFL sees the light and strips EA of its "exclusive rights" contract!
