That's pretty much a plot of a Rocco's modern life episode. The character want to make his "Masterpiece" but to eat he ended up making animated TV shows called Wacky Jelly. The show became mega hit and people keep demanding more. At first he obliged but got disillusioned so much he ended up sabotaging the show again and again. Hilariously every sabotage attempt made the show became more popular than before lol.

I love how much detail is packed in this film. Even down to what shirt he wears reflecting the relationship between him and the muse. In the beginning he just wears a black shirt. As he makes more spongebob theories, the shirts become more spongebob. From a black spongebob shirt to a yellow hoodie, showing that he's accepting the muse more. After eating Gary, he's in denial of the muse, wearing black over yellow. After thinking it left, he wears normal clothes again. And then yellow over black, showing that he's being consumed by the muse. I could watch this 100 times and still be noticing detail and I love it. Great work Alex! Excited for your future work!

I find it very interesting that the intro to this confirms that the version of Alex seen in this series is almost identical to IRL Alex, he apparently even made the Promos/Pizza Time Pizza ARG, so now I’m wondering if he also canonically made the conspiracy theory parody videos as well before he started making the legitimate theories on SpongeBob, because that adds a whole new level of irony to this story.

When I saw the ending of DFTM3, I knew it was phase four: reconnection. On the HMF website, it said (from what I remember) that the muses extract something from their digested hosts and give it to MOTHER once she reached her final form. But it never said what was meant to be extracted.

People who say you don't have film talent is wrong. There's story, there's emotional pull - at 13:10 I genuinely thought you'd sacrifice it. Even if it was eventually done, I still felt the suspense in this scene. Even as I type, I'm still feeling chills even though I know what happened to the cat was ficticious. Just gonna put this out there, but this series is honestly how I found Alex Bale. I still remember when I found this series through the SpongeBob theories and waiting for the next theory to coming out, just to skip to the film parts just to see what the Muse was gonna do next. Watching this series since its beginning has helped me get through hard times in my life, and some parts of the story alone I've found a bit relatable. This webseries hit pretty hard as someone with a muse of his own. It's not hard to see what people know me as, personally, and I can absolutely relate to only being known as the guy who does one thing and just that, being forced into it by the algorithm and the people around you because nothing else gets views. It's interesting to watch this without the other ARG elements. When this was ongoing, I paid attention to the side channels and videos (this place is not happy, The Cynical Critic, ConspiracyCarl, etc). However, Don't Feed the Muse still works as a stand-alone series, with the stories of Mark, Carl, Paradox1313, and the Happy Meat Farms characters fleshing out the wider lore. Overall, Alex, I wish you good luck with future projects. Keep up the high-quality work.

I adore everything about this!! the cat motif, the surreal elements, the characters, the cinematography, all of it! it works so well as a standalone film/series but the addition of the websites and other arg material truly make it an unforgettable experience. the party and movie theatre sequences in particular are so jarringly brilliant. the bit where the party-goers start chanting ‘don’t let us down’ demands the attention of the viewer in such a beautiful way. very reminiscent of don’t hug me im scared with the smooth descent into madness. everyone involved did such a wonderful job, thank you for this delightful masterpiece spongebob guy

Dude, i love this arg so much. Everything about it and all the other videos you make is so fine tuned to detail. Even rewatching it in this full directors cut theres new things im seeing that i didnt see before. Like, the cat's name being Gary probably being a nod to Gary from spongebob (seeing as both are pets and gary acts like a Cat). Man rewatching this was a Blast. It's Incredible to see this One Pop off and give Alex the Attention He Finally Deserves. I love the additional context of how this story began and the extra Lore, with Jared being the one who basically chose Alex because of how useful he could be. Also Nice for a little more clarity on the fact that Alex broke free but The Rest have been Digested and will now Come Home . That End bit was exciting. It's no stranger that a Sequel to a Series is done by the Legend Himself, perhaps when The Full-Length Movie comes out. We may see the Continuation :) (Cannot wait for that Film Dude. Amazing work, Alex. Genuinely a great look into KZbin and the contrast between what your audience wants VS what you want. Hope your film goes well. And you know, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if your more personnal projects aren't what people watch. As long as you get to make it, to bring it into this Earth, it's all worht it as far as I'm concerned. Your _personnal_ projects are _personnal_ for a reason. It's not gonna resonate with everyone, but those it IS gonna reosnate with are gonna feel it like an earthquake.

Honestly... I love how this Reflects how most people take old Videos for Granted. They think it sucks, and the person behind it probably didn't do much work. When in truth however... The creator put hours [maybe even days] it time into it, actually put effort into making it, probably showed it off to friends to see their opinion before uploading it, and actually worked to try to achieve fame and recognition... While everyone else that is lazy and just sits on their computer all day, just watches like one minute of it and immediately says it's Garbage. While others don't even get recommended it due to the negative comments and poor views. The Muse is Literally a Representative of those kinds of people eating away at a Creators dreams until there is nothing left but a Husk.

honestly im kinda disappointed in myself for not checking this out sooner, i did watch the squilium (squilieam? idk that fancy squid fucker) and enjoyed the video, but didn’t really dig deeper than that. And im especially mad at myself as someone who loves args, analog horror and webseries horror, this is brilliantly well done and i look forward to your future projects, spongebob related or not :] edit: also wanted to add on as a fellow artist, for any other artists that might need to hear this, that yeah, it’s definitely frustrating to see your original work that you spent hours on getting less attention than a quick meme that has millions of views, but that doesn’t mean you should ever give up! keep making original projects! please keep enjoying making art and if you find that it’s not bringing you joy then perhaps you should take a break and either take a complete hiatus or work on something you actually like for a while. don’t push yourself into making something you hate. last edit i promise! its a corn plate ass observation, but while the color yellow is used heavily here because spongebob is yellow, however it obviously has a double meaning here as the color yellow is used as a sort of cautionary color. In color theory while it can symbolize joy and happiness, it can also symbolize danger or warn of a hazard, as yellow can provoke this intense feeling of dread: you can’t actively see the danger yet but you can sense it. i think that plays alot into the story of this, how the color yellow originally brought cheer and whimsy through sponebob, it slowly becomes a color you learn to dread as we see the Muse more and more, making the color feel alot more hazardous and sickly.

Hey Alex, don't know if you'll see this, but I think your horror films as well, are actually really good. I know the whole "Your viewers forced you into making these theories" was just part of the ARG, but I did watch your other horror films as well, including the Promos/Pizza Time Pizza playlist, so at least from my perspective, just like in the start of the intro, you do have potential. I started out making videos about a cartoon from my childhood, but when I tried to branch out, nothing got views ('getting views' meaning like... 2k views on my most-watched video). Came here from Night Mind, but evidently I've seen some of this series before without realizing it ("This Place Is Not Happy"). Not only is my mind blown with the grand scale of this project, but what a hell of a message. As mom to a kid going into an artistic field, this really hit. But to genuinely complement Alex and everyone else who worked on this film, I’m going to school right now to learn Maya and VFX, and I feel like this is the right direction for me even though I’m terrified of not finding work in this field. Thanks for making art that not only communicates this fear but has a message of, just do it any. Because in my experience, it’s worse to never create the ideas that are bothering you than to just sit down and do the work to make those ideas a reality. Thank you!
