Hey I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. My mother had rotator cuff surgery 1 month ago. I started watching your videos about a week prior to her surgery and all the accessories you recommended really helped. Especially the shower arm sling and chair. Those two definitely made things easier for her. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

@American Paisa Returns you are most welcome! It's awesome to hear my videos are helping people. That's exactly why I spend my time making them. I'm really glad to hear things were easier for your mother. I hope she's doing well. Thank you for your comments, they are very appreciated!

I have PT 3 times a week plus have home work 3 times a day…yep i am one who gets real tired of Physical Therapy. I had Biscept surgery with a frozen shoulder to boot. August 27. Was my surgery

@Mary Lee Hardage physical therapy can certainly get tiring! I've felt that as well. Pushing through that block, actually helped my shoulder more than I imagined. I've also used a schedule that lowered the volume on certain days, while mobilizing between, then hitting it hard twice a week instead of 3+. It all helped.

@Sanghamitra Das I'm super glad the videos have been helpful to you! Yes, sometimes recovery is very tiring and even difficult. If you can, do those things that are easier, but you are still getting in some volume. Make sure they are things that do not aggravate you. For example, on Week 15 I took out the overhead at first and just did those 4 isometrics as shown in the beginning of the video. Once I got those going, my shoulder felt better. Hopefully the same will happen for you. The good news is, you are just like me...totally normal. We will get there one step at a time!

@@poolmilethirty2859 hey there! I'm sorry, it's taken so long for me to reply. While it's good to be conscientious of others, ultimately you are going to physical therapy to improve you! I've been in this situation before with a previous injury many years ago. When I called the office to schedule my next session, I simply requested the person who helped me more and got on their schedule. I didn't always see the original therapist I moved away from, but if I did, I always smiled and said hi to them. You haven't said anything negative, you have stayed positive, and scheduled the person that helped you most. You do have the right to request the therapist. If they aren't available on a certain day, you can either skip that day, or get on the original therapist's schedule. If you do the latter, let them know what has been helping you most and what hasn't. It is good feedback for them. It will help both of you.

My "holy crap" week is now. Week 19. I hurt more now than a month ago. I sure hope it gets better. PT is tomorrow and I'm not ready.

It does get better! I’m guessing by now it has. It just takes time.

Great video. What about training with your good side, bicep curls, 1 arm Pulldowns etc with some overload so good side does not shrink like healing side? Your making great progress!

@JMiel Atl check out this video from a few weeks ago... kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqnaeYqjptCCf9k Definitely doing one arm is better than none! Unfortunately, PT is taking about 2 hours to complete these days...tons of added volume. That will be in next week's video. While I'm not really working out like I used to, at least I get to do long PT sessions now! It's a step in the right direction. I appreciate the comment, thank you!

Did I hear you say it's okay to take a day off?! That would be great. I feel like my shoulder never gets to recover. My PT notes are for each day 2-3times a day. I am constantly sore

Yes! Sometimes I felt overtrained and rested. Most of the time I pushed.

In UK and in Canada, the physio does not touch my body and instead gives me exercises to go home and do, I feel like I am so far behind when I watch you tube videos, I am now 17 weeks. I wish I could find a physio that will actually touch my body and help me do the exercises.

How long were your PT or exercise sessions? Looks like a lot of reps.

Haha, oh yes. It was a LOT of reps. I ended therapy with my DPT about week 20 but kept doing mobility and strengthening to this day.

Do you do your exercises once a day or twice a day? Thanks in advance.

@Vanessa Alindogan I am doing PT with Dr. Dan once weekly and home PT twice weekly for a total of three days a week. I make sure to have at least one day of rest between every session. You're most welcome.

@@livelongerlivestronger Thanks for your reply, we’re nearly the same, im between 14-15 weeks post op, and Im seeing my Physiotherapist twice a week and doing my exercises twice a day. I keep forgetting to ask my physio if I have to do home exercises twice a day everyday. But my rom is about 160 degrees, not like you. You’re doing so well. Im scared to over do it coz I might retear my repair. But my pain is not that bad. Sometimes Im in pain after seeing my Physiotherapist after she manipulated my shoulder, but after a day I’ll be fine.

@@valindogan the frequency of your PT is highly dependent on what your are doing. For example, when I was doing Passive, Assisted, and Active Range of Motion, I did therapy at least 3 times a day and often times more. Those movements are helping my shoulder understand how to move again. Once I moved into strengthening with light bands and weights, I went to one session every other day. During true strengthening, our shoulders need a good rest to recover somewhat like how bodybuilders train. The typical strength training session is to work a body part(s) hard on say Monday, then on Tuesday focus on another body part(s). It is unusual to work the same body part multiple times a day or several days in a row. Definitely check with your healthcare team's advice on what you are doing and the frequency they are recommending. That's the best way when you have a good healthcare team! For now, check out the segment of this video with my surgeon, linked below. My surgeon is giving me my prescription for strength training. Watch the entire segment with my surgeon. That's the Week 12 video. You'll see what I mean. After that, watch the Week 13 video. I go into mini-sessions. I do those several times daily....BUT, I only do strengthening sessions every other day. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2irZGuMndKgmdU

This really is bad recovery. Training until pain, weakness and stiffness returns and needing days to recover. These things will snap like twigs and then you are really screwed. Even the smallest stress will attract fluid around the repair and that will set you back. You need this thing working properly for the rest of your life, what is the point trying to advance the schedule set by the surgeon.
