Worried about the angle or tilt of your glasses? Did this video help you out?

It is incredible how many optometrists I have seen over the years and told them, “when I raise the back of the temples above my ears and tilt my glasses, my vision becomes so much better”, only to be shrugged at. Once I found a great ophthalmologist, he educated me on why this was the case, and explained how my glasses need to be adjusted to ensure I was seeing out of the OC of the lens depending on my particular frames. I have never seen better in my life. 🤓

Technically it’s the opticians job to create pantoscopic tilt
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 2 жыл бұрын
Considering most frames are designed with 6-10 degrees of pantoscopic tilt from the factory I’ll disagree. The problem he’s experiencing is due to not properly measuring the optical centers creating a tolled prismatic effect that doesn’t mesh with where his eyes are in the frame due to the height of his eyes and pantoscopic tilt not working together to hit it right. Martins rule should be applied to account for this and create more comfortable vision. But that should fall onto the optician to account for, not necessarily create or remove panto (though they should be more than capable of doing so)😎

Can you take your glasses to a professional and have them reduce the tilt towards cheek. I bought frames, and have lenses now; but the frames have extreme tilt. Want to ease it a bit back.

What can be done when my eyes *prefer* 19 degrees of pantoscopic tilt in my glasses? I've got pretty bad myopia (-11.00) and the last 2 sets of glasses I've had made were not as clear when they sat straight on my face. Can't that preference be built into the lenses so frame adjustments don't need to be made? Thanks!
@ThatGlassesGuy03

Indeed it can... odds are you've got some unresolved astigmatism. That much tilt in your power is inducing almost a half diopter of cylinder power!

Hi!Would you be kind to make a video about how to adjust a pair of spring hinges glasses, when on spring hinge is stronger and the other one is weakened?because i konw you can, your the man!Love your videos!
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 3 жыл бұрын
I wish I could, I have some bad news for you unless those are the titanium sheet frames where the spring hinge is part of the design via a tension rod (ovvo, mykita, ic berlin, etc).... that weak spring is nearing failure. I check for that if I'm replacing lenses in a spring hinge frame. Sometimes it can hang on for awhile sometimes it's within days. I've only been surprised once, and that was with two that felt like that had good strong even tension, but one snapped anyways, happened in my hands or I would've never believed it 🤣. As a temporary fix you could definitely bend the side with the weak hinge in towards the head more to balance the frame better, but its a very temporary fix, and will accelerate the rate of failure.

I use over ear headphones and end up putting my glasses or readers above them (lots of tilt). If I didn't the headphones would crush them into the sides of my head.

@@ThatGlassesGuy03 I need to get In Ear Monitors (IEMs are fancy wired earbuds). I had been using my old readers to see medium (around the house) distance as my nearest focal point keeps moving away. Broke down and got real glasses that arrived a few days ago. Still getting adjusted to the progressives. I miss seeing the ground in front of me. These are no good for computer gaming. My computer screen distance is in the channel. An area too small to see the whole screen in focus without moving my head all over the place. Fortunately I thought to ask for a separate prescription for computer glasses. I just need to order them.

I have had to wear my glasses extremely tilted to get sharp vision. I don’t understand how this helped my vision.
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 3 жыл бұрын
So, this may sound a little off the rails.... but here we go. It's two different things at play here (and even more so in progressive lenses) very likely you have a small amount of astigmatism that wasn't found in the refraction, or was so minimal it didn't make a difference, as adding pantoscopic tilt to an extreme degree creates some cylinder power at 90*, and by actually having the glasses and inducing this in comparison to not having it, you can see this small difference as it is now much more perceptible, especially out in the real world lookong at distances beyond 20'. Fun fact, compensated lenses account for those and add cylinder at 180 to offset that induced cylinder 🙃. Now on the other side of the spectrum this also shifts where the optical center of the lens needs to be placed to perform the best, this is a calculation done using Martin's rule, however for most non compensated lenses, they are fit at the midline of the frame, and this is largely OK for most aspheric lenses, but not necessarily correct. One or both of these could be contributing factors to this.

One of the reasons why someone could want retroscopic tilt maybe because of the size of their nose. Wouldn't you say so?

I've visited a few websites with prices from 230 to 350$ for the p8478.Whats different about yours?
@ThatGlassesGuy03
@ThatGlassesGuy03 3 жыл бұрын
Not the video I would've picked for that comment 🤣. Go to the porsche design website... thats the MSRP pricing I am NOT allowed to deviate from as an authorized and licensed retailer. Most of the ones at that pricing are new old stock or gray market, without getting into too much detailthe label has changed hands a lot over the years and the p8478 is too Iconic to stop making, so they're are a LOT of non authentic or old ones floating around. The sole US distributor of this brand follows and enforces the MAP policy in our license agreement, and I've seen many sellers shut down over it, I have 0 intention of being one of those, so we continue to sell at SRP and deliver an authentic high quality product with a proper bench alignment before shipping 🙂
