When I went to the doctor he said my inlet pipe looked similar... I hope your "core" subscribers enjoyed this video!!! Seems like those cores are well named... Often in the core of never-never-land... Lots of good details. Well done! Thanks!!!

Wow. What a sizeable project but I guess living in OH makes it worth it in the long run. Especially now that winter is creeping in for you guys. Nicely done and thanks for another funny and educating episode.

Thanks for following along with this project as well. We really appreciate it and yes, the timing for the heat is critical now.

You guys are AWESOME. I live in Texas and I’m thinking about doing this to my 99. After seeing how much there is to it I might just tuff it out this winter it doesn’t get cold where I live for too long. But it’s so good to know how to do this just incase

Hi Vincent, thanks for watching and the kind words! I would say that owning an older car is not for the faint of heart... I'm happy to report that the heat does blow hot most days, but like many others in the forums I'm struggling to get hot air when the ambient temps are below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. I suspect the thermostat may be sticking open or stuck open, or I may need to take a piece of cardboard and block off half the teeny tiny radiator to get the engine hotter on my morning commute. There's all sorts of ghosts hiding in the system sometimes. Keep an eye out for our follow-up video to this where I convince Art to help me chase down why the AC isn't blowing cold! I'm crossing my fingers that fix doesn't involve pulling the whole dash out again..... Take care and stay safe!

@ I ended up taking the heater core hoses out and putting a hose directly to it to push some of that gunk out. It did the trick for me and my heater works ! (Not great) but it works and luckily I didn’t have to take out the whole dash on my end. Last summer I installed a new ac unit on my 99. eBay kit for $300. Compressor/ condenser, and ac dryer. I purchased a vacuumed kit on Amazon for about $80. And did it that way. After doing everything by the book i realized something important. When I was driving down the road my ac seems to kick on. But when I was at a stop it would go back to luke warm. I realized my ac fan wasn’t working. So I hooked up my ac fan to a switch. And manually turn it on when I turn on my ac. Spent all summer last year for the first time on a cool geo metro. Didn’t have to have windows down. Unless it got too cold ;)

I had to replace the heater core in my 84 Chevy van this summer. I had to do pretty much what you did except remove the column. It just dropped down. I had no service manual so I just winged it. Took me several evenings after work to get it done. It also gave me the chance to clean all the heating ducts and replace the dash speakers. Not a hard job really just time consuming.

Hi Sheldon. Thanks for watching and sharing. You're spot on. Not a hard job, but the time consumption is a big one. If you don't have patience, it can be pure hell. LOL. Glad to hear you had just a slightly easier job on your van. Because it's all wiring and nuts and bolts, the manual makes it easier on telling you where to look but it's not impossible without it as you discovered. Just takes more time. We're hoping this video will help all of those that don't have the manual as well or run into snags. Cheers!
