Hi, I'm new. Just wanted to offer a different way to think about clothing and even other items used for baby. Clothes are not the memory, clothes served a great purpose and allowed you to clothe your child. Kept them warm, allowed them to play etc How lucky are you that you can, and many of us can. I kept certain pieces and also a selection of tshirts to make a quilt. My kids are 20 & 17 now and one day will be given one box so we can revisit those early years. You are doing amazing!!

The problem I have when going through baby clothes is the memories come flooding back of somewhere we went or something they did when wearing those clothes. Without looking at the clothes, there’s no way I could remember those little events.

I have 2 girls (5 & 3) and totally get the baby/toddler/kid clothes overload!! I recently did a MAJOR declutter. Donated majority but I also sold on FB resell groups for boutique and smocked kids clothes. Smocked/embroidered outfits are outrageously expensive…and usually worn maybe once or twice plus u need a new smocked dress/bubble/sunsuit for every single major/minor event…so resell groups are my new go to for buying and selling!! I’m in the South (GA) where smocked & embroidered outfits are the “thing” for littles (esp girls!) so not sure if that style is even a thing in FL. But still worth checking out!

Hi! I love the decluttering videos! I would say that I’m like you I’m not really sentimental but I do have a hard time with my boys clothes. So I have a basket that I put all the out grown clothes into, and once it gets full I go through it keep what I want and donate the rest. I find once the clothes go in the basket I become a little detached from them. For the clothes that I keep I put them in a storage box and once that gets full I go through that, keep what I want and donate the rest. I know it could be a bit of a long process but I find that if I have a limit for their clothes it’s easier for me to not keep everything.

I needed to see this. I am SO GLAD someone is talking about this subject as a mother. I am currently doing the same thing and its been somethingive been putting off. We have so much clothes from our 2 kids I've kept over the years and it's quite embarrassing from the amount of bins/bags there are. It's funny you mentioned you smell the baby clothes because I'm very sentimental in that way also 😅. I'm going to keep certain items that were my personal favorites and have them turned into those viral 'MAMA' sweatshirts. I'm sure there will be lots of moments of crying during this process but I'm excited to have a weight lifted off my shoulders.

Memories are not in the clothes….they are in your heart. Donating the clothes……don’t you still have the memories. Of course you do. Just think if Forrest was born to a family that didn’t have enough money to buy him nice clothes. You would appreciate so much a family donating clothes for him to be able to wear. You are doing the right thing. The clothes are not helping any little boy if they stay in the closet. You are doing a good thing

For gently used items, we take them to second hand shops and pick up the next size up. Especially when he jumps two sizes. We bought him sixes at the beginning of the school year and he jumped up to sevens by October. He was wearing fives in August, his sister did the same thing. It is hard to find little girl size 18. We buy Junior small but they tend to be too revealing for a 10 year old.

I am not a mum but I understand because it is your baby and only baby, a significant event. It's unfortunate but also good that the smell is not in the bag coz that would've made it so harder.
