Ok the ending was 100/10 👏👏👏 I get the comment all the time “if you make so much money then why do you live in a small house and drive a used car.” Because I value retirement and travel > luxury items. Obviously people can spend it however they want but owning flashy things doesn’t always mean you’re rich, sometimes it means you’re cash poor 😬

I think you’re going about it in all the right ways! It’s so easy to upscale your lifestyle when you start making tonnes of money but the smart thing to do is what you’re doing. Life is so short and at the end of the day, material stuff is just stuff, and we can’t take it with us when we continue on our journey. Memories and experiences stay forever! I hope you get to do what you love for many years to come!! Cheers!!!

Katie, this is such an incredibly refreshing take on creator finances! 🙌 So many people focus on revenue without considering expenses, taxes, and what actually stays in their pocket. Your breakdown of revenue, expenses, and dividends vs. salary is so valuable, especially for Canadian creators navigating business finances. As a CPA working with Canadian entrepreneurs and creators, I love seeing more transparency around the real numbers behind running a content business. 🔥 One thing I’d add for creators: if you’re earning over $30K annually from brand deals, AdSense, or other business income, don’t forget about GST/HST registration! The CRA considers you a business, meaning you might need to charge and remit sales tax. The upside? You can also claim back GST/HST on business expenses, which can save you thousands. So many creators don’t realize this until tax time - definitely something to keep in mind as your income grows! More of this kind of transparency, please! 🙌

This was such an easy and thorough explanation, thank you! Question regarding the trip expenses. I know only a portion of the trip was considered a business expense, but how was the trip funded initially? From personal and then a portion paid back from the corporation?
@katie4 күн бұрын
I usually pay for my travel entirely on my business credit card! but then, if the trip was half work/half personal for example, I would count 50% of the expenses as a business expense, and the other 50% as a dividend payment to myself!
