Baba yaga is a very interesting mythological figure, and one that really deserves more attention. She is indeed a murderer and a cannibal, however she is also sometimes highly benevolent, and just as often acts with no rhyme or reason at all. Like the vampire she is obsessive compulsive, possessed by an urge to count both spoons and the fingers of dead men. Russians used to tell their children that sounds they heard during the night was Baba Yaga coming into the house to count their spoons. She's a little bit of everything in Russian mythology. She taught Kostej the Deathless his magic, but also gave Ivan Tsarevich the magic items used to slay him. She's the sort of magic being you can make bargains with, but will ask for really weird and unexpected things in return, and will become enraged over tiny pointless details of the arrangement being overlooked. In summary, she's the sort of supernatural creature to stalk you for days, attempt to strangle you while your on the toilet, then reveal to you the location of buried treasure after you survive. After retrieving the treasure and being rich beyond your wildest dreams you would come home only to discover that her objective the entire time was just to get you out of the house while she stole all the dirty socks out of your hamper.

Third of all, I think most of us here know Baba Yaga is from folklore. And I have fairly useless information so here it is: Babayaka is a term that basically means boogeyman and the boogeyman takes misbehaving kids as punishment blah, blah, blah. John kills people as punishment for getting on someone's bad side. What John and Baba Yaga have in common is that they're scary af, people don't want to mess with them and they are being that strike fear into people to cause them to be careful. At the end of the day, it's just a joke so chill

This movie is low key genius! Actually, my friend. Baba Yaga (the godlike creature from Slavic mythology) isn’t an evil entity but more of a guardian of the passage between dimensions (as well as all knowing spirit). She (as most pagan gods of Slavs) can be good or evil, depending on who she is dealing with.

@@crossiantjc Well, depends kinda. I'm from Poland and here Baba Yaga works as Boogeyman of some sort. Many stories about witches are hers to claim, for example about a hag who lives in the house made out of candies and gingerbread and eats children. Yet if you go deeper into mythology she isn't persay evil entity, just rather selfish. Yes, she is a killer, cannibal, but she can be good or evil depending on who she's dealing with and on what, but she usually has some personal interest, perhaps she'll try to trick you, murder you, yet she's really unpredictable and seemingly has no goal. You could bargain with her since she is a really powerful magic godlike creature for example, but I don't think it's recommended. She deserves more attention definitely
