There will be a time where it's still needed - manual coding. This auto this and auto that is nice, but we always turn back to the basics for many things.

Honestly ai won't replace the 2% of programmers who inovate. It will replace the other 98% who follow trends. And can't programming in low level. Ai can't replace something not invented yet but will learn the IT slave jobs at a faster pace than a human. If you don't work on chips, embedded systems, aerospace defense, mechanical engineering. Ai will most likely surpass you.
@howie-lim5 ай бұрын
Yes, I agree, it will replace most mundane tasks of coding and other work but not higher level things related to AI, as you mentioned in your comment. Its a double edge sword but you have to be up to speed on whats going on or you`re going to be left behind regardless of where you are on the professional foodchain.

robots will build chips thats what he said😂 these mechanical engineers are more worried for us than we are worried about ourselves.. believe me we, theoretical computer scientists will be in demand more than ever, because only we will be the one controlling ai.. and ai will always have some limitations at very abstract level and it will always require someone possessed with deep theoretical knowledge of computer science than chip mechanics, and we will be the one, who will become the bridge between humans and ai.. your mechanical engineering is 90% already gone, and will go out complete in some years😂😂

I use AI to create a structure in PowerPoint and it creates nice illustrations and captions and layout and theme. It can sift through emails sorting them after priority, that is nice. I use AI to fight bureaucracy and corporate admin and I love it!

So far it’s just allowing Programmers to work faster, being able to generate 30% of the code I create just allows me to be more productive… I’m correcting and adding to that 30% generated and the other 70% gets into business knowledge and knowing what type of modules to build… every knowledge worker profession, including attorneys and medical doctors face the same transition… until these models are perfect humans will still be needed
@howie-lim5 ай бұрын
Yes, very true. It has helped immensely in tech and fields like healthcare, not perfect but I suppose these models will be further and further fine tuned into better models for to enhance and speed up work for people.

It depends on which country you live in. If you live in the US you should study Law so you can sue people, study Economics to make money from papers, be a Military so you can fight war overseas. Look at what prestige universities teach. Programming is not for the US, coders are just laughed at.

The problem with the pursue the things you are interested in mantra is that most work just isn't that interesting. What is the most interesting and attractive about these jobs is earning a high wage. You aren't going to get paid a high wage if an AI can just do the most difficult parts for you or it removes the scarcity of your skills.

Hmm, so if I tell AI service "please create a trading platform that can handle 4 million transactions per second", I will get the entire application in few seconds, right? Great

Ok, for that to happen the AI model needs to be trained on hundreds of such mission critical high valued business applications. When the open source world itself is shrinking with Red Hat, IBM, Oracle, Microsoft tweaking their extent of open-ness, do you think such large Wall Street companies will donate their application source code and leave for pilgrimage?

I want to understand why the nvidia ceo said that.. please make another vid about this i feel this vid is a bit defensive position. I want to actually get in the nvidia ceo's brain. How can he be so confident that he said that in front of many people? Coz they are possibily knowing something we dont. Like the AI roadmap of creating agents and whatever. Dont get me wrong. Its a good video but i didnt understood why he could say that with such confidence can we talk more about AI roadmap on what possibly they are seeing
@howie-lim19 күн бұрын
Yes, if you look at Jensen compared to a lot of other Tech CEOs you`ll find him very practical, humble and a good head about him. Most of the other Tech CEOs are pushing some political agenda or so concerned about profitability that they loose sight of their company`s mission and overall objective.

(quote) What Huang is doing is to deceive laymen to achieve the purpose of making money. As a person who has been doing software for nearly 20 years, I can say very responsibly that the most important thing in making software is to understand the vague The requirements are not understood by the people who put forward the requirements. Software engineers clarify them through repeated exchanges - there are bugs in the system, and often you cannot describe clearly what the bug is in a picture. For example, I am What are the settings on interface A, what is done on interface B, how is interface C handled, and what problems arise - the maintenance of a system code is done by humans, unless the entire system is written by AI. Once humans want to intervene, People have to understand the content of the code. This in itself is an irresolvable contradiction. AI can help you make the system good, but it will never be possible to create a maintainable system in a personalized way and communicate with people based on domain knowledge. It is something that requires people to intervene. This is what software engineers do. They are not just doing grammar.

Yeah coding is just a little part of Software Engineering ,its mostly about taking the requirements understadig the problem,solving it ,desiging it and after all these important steps we have to code the solution thrugh programming languages

GARBAGE, HOW COULD YOU REPEAT SUCH NON SENSE!!!! WHEN YOU USE CHAT GPT TO GENERATE A PROGRAM, ALL YOU GET IS A VERY SUPERFICIAL OUTLINE OF A PROGRAM. 50% INCOMPLETE OR WRONG!!!!! THE OUTLINE(VERY BASIC PROGRAM) IS HELPFUL TO GET YOU STARTED, BUT IN NO WAY IS IT A USABLE PROGRAM. YOU HAVE TO BE A VERY GOOD PROGRAMMER TO FIX ANY AI SOFTWARE.

Yes, but it does help the completion and authoring process, in the fields of content creation copywriters and marketers use it extensively and has increased productivity and time to market. I agree that a good coder will continue to be valued in the market although s/he will have to change either the way they implement the code or learn how to use AI effectively to be a part of the process otherwise there is risk of being left behind.

AI Coding will be only able to do simple stuff and need much "luck". Because codes (especially for more complex things) are always full of bugs at the beginning. I do not think, that the AI-coding will be good in finding and fixing bugs. Some bugs are very hard to find and to fix. The AI WILL fail on these ! And a code full of bugs is worthless !

Bull and utter hogwash, methinks. LLMs will never produce serious, non-trivial, production-grade code. But a very nice use-case for current -state AI, would be to let it preview videos about "AI is making human coding obsolete", train it to recognize the BS tell-tales (scrolling pages of unindented trivial javascript in the background, for instance) so that it saves us the wasted three minutes, forty-odd seconds..
