What will really help is ‘please’ and ‘sorry’. I was at drinks with a girl from a week ago and we’re on bean bags on the beach. One guy had the disrespect to just straight up talk to the girl. He said something like: “look at my dance” then did this stupid dance. Then a few minutes later his friend talked to me when she went to the bathroom. I said: “I don’t want to know or talk to you, please go away”. The ‘please’ was the sword here that makes saying this not a call for a fight.

Practice saying sorry and please. So: “sorry man, but we’re having a private conversation”. “Could you please let us continue”. Any variation of that. Is a far easier way of just saying: “fuck off” which is not a call for a fight. I’m also fine to fight though, fighting is fun, so reframing fighting as fun is also helpful.
