I'm at a new company, and the same insubordinate person is here working under me again. I only had him moved to a different crew, and got a slower guy. I got more work done with the slower guy.

I mow fields, and the front yard guys brag about their 30ft long strip, when I get 300yard long field to mow. So I showed them how it's done. I did a checker board. Next week stars 🌟 In the lawn.

I had a total-communications break-down with my manager who refused to answer my "Why?" when I didn't understand his reasoning. His response of "because I said so end-of-discussion" made me lose all respect for him. When I tried to resolve it with him he refused to convene, hung up the phone on me and instead bitched to HR. Now I'm on medical leave because I got so frustrated I was hospitalized with an anxiety-attack and have developed a panic disorder. Well, good for him, he flexed his power and and he has no employee and the law protects me from being fired while I recover (could be months). Treat your staff with respect and they will send respect right back your way.

Im a Manager on the flip side what does a Supervisor do when Employees intentionally act insubordinate because the Company is short staffed and they know they can't be fired? In todays workplace most employees are underpaid and act very lazy and rebellious as a result. Todays work environment its virtually impossible for Supervisors to get Employees to take any initiative or work up to the basic standard. They all feel they deserve six figure salaries.

Very insightful video, I could have watched this video earlier before dealing with my insubordinate ex-employee. Interesting lesson to take away.

I came back to the company in September as a regular phlebotomist, I had worked there for 4 years. I was offered the phlebotomy supervisor position 3 weeks after starting, I had always been asked to take the lead position or supervisor but I just never thought I could do it. I take my job in the medical field seriously! So when I train someone new, I make sure they are following proper patient care procedures. I am certified to train phlebotomists and when I came back one employee needed to be re trained because no one else wanted to train her again. When I began to retrain her she became very mouthy with me all the time and not taking constructive criticism well. She even went as far as to say that she has been going backwards since I got there and everybody else thought she was doing fine and a great job, but that is not the case at all. Once I became the supervisor she just says that I am mean and she has gone as far as to tell some new employees not to listen to me because I am mean. My coworker says that she says that I am intimidating, But I literally don’t say anything except to show her when she’s doing something wrong after the fact that she’s doing something wrong I show her I don’t do it in front of the patients I wait till we leave the room. But my coworker says that this girl and one of the other new girls say that I’m intimidating or mean. I am someone that believes in not being best friends with coworkers or in this case employees people that know me know that I am funny I do have conversations with some of them because I mean before I became a supervisor I knew some of their private lives and what they were going through but this employee is very insubordinate and always has something to say and it has been so hard to get rid of her because of HR even though she almost put a patient in danger because she does not listen to me.

Outright told me their peers/employees look to them more than current mangement then got in close to my face to see a reaction. Riled up the lead director into thinking they will leave if they aren't promoted immediately and lead director purposely left me off a team meeting started saying negative things about me then was told i am on the phone do i have anything to add. Its a single person that has done nothing to grow or work on what suggest they work on..

These people who have the arrogance and audacity to argue with you when you're asking them to do their job is ASTOUNDING. I wish firing people was easier at times, because if these people are terrible at their jobs AND are insubordinate, its a nightmare.

What do you do? when the insubordinate employee have your supervisor on their side
@LeadershipwithMike2 жыл бұрын
I would be setting up and 1/1 with the supervisor. I would be asking them how they expect you to lead your team.

How do u approach an older male employee that just can not stand women in authority. Now i have a female assistant and he's treating her the same as me. He cannot stand a woman in charge, has to always be right 🙄
@LeadershipwithMike Жыл бұрын
You’re going to need to have a 1/1 meeting. Explain the issue, Listen to what he has to say. Set the expectations. What are the possible consequences?? This may be uncomfortable but you need to stand firm on how you and your assistant are treated.
@Flexyourmemes10 ай бұрын
Im having this same issue. My manager is female. Never had an issue before but recently its like theyre changing everything in the company, not giving us a chance to absorb one chanfw before two kore come and any pushback is considered insubordination because shes a woman when ive specifically said it has nothing to do with her. But im now being treated as if i hate women in positions of power. Ive been told to keep quiet about anything which is highly illegal and unethical. Ive also been told indirectly that im expendable. So maybe look at what you as a manager are doing. Your situation. You have a male employee. Men tend to think logically. We care about the message. Women tend to think with feelings. They care about how the message is delivered(body language, tone of voice inflection). If you know this and choose to harp on how your male employee said something rather than what he actually said and then chose to discipline the employee then youre just as culpuble for the situation. Just a specific example Just wanted to add i was fired for not answering my managers question exactly how she wanted it answered. I have never had a write up or disciplinary action. No disciplinary action, even though none would be appropriate. Would you fire an employee because of this? I had no attitude or anything. I was just not feeling well that day.

Corrective action and termination are sometimes necessary but these are not the solution. You have to figure out the problem to determine the solution. Love the point about sooner than later! Great video!
@Flexyourmemes10 ай бұрын
Termination should be the last thing considered if they are an otherwise decent hardworking employee. Company should ask why is this happening? Is this pay related? Is the employee not making enough to survive, cones into work and gets treated like a slave? Gas the cimpany veen going through too many changes for the employee to absorb? Is the employee goibg through a divorce? Etc etc.
