Those foldable boxes are pretty good and great size. I already pass the discounted rates to buyers and add a $1.00 handling fee. I looked at retail rates and didn't like how high it made the shipping.

Interesting topic. I'll be opting out. Taking a 13.25% hit with fees on every label, and absorbing the cost of materials just doesn't make sense to me. If anything, I'll start using a flat rate an an individual item basis.

Thanks for the head's up on the shipping rates. I didn't get that email. Not in my messages & I did a search for several terms in the email you showed but it's not in my email. So I checked my settings and I'm set for "Standard rates without discount" still so I don't know why I didn't get the email. My suggestion is that everyone check their acct settings just in case they didn't get it either. Never count 100% on ebay to inform you of something. Great work guys!!!

White Fold Up Boxes: we use that style routinely in the 13 x 5 x 5 & 13 x 6 x 6 sizes. I find them to be much stronger (crush resistance) then regular boxes, but as Candice experienced, it takes a bit to get used to folding them.

I already dropped my shipping to pass on the savings but added a buck or two for handling. It did help my sell through rate and suddenly got me international buyers I never had before.

Those fold up boxes are great. Especially when you sell smalls that are high value. I used to buy ones with single VHS dimensions and double VHS dimensions. I’d check ebay, I found the best unit pricing there, but that’s been a couple of years.

I'll have to keep an eye at how it effects the overall look of the search for items when that change happens. I already do the discounted rates + a handling fee to cover material expenses. If my current set up makes my shipping too high compared to the majority, I'll have to rethink things.

I opted out of passing the discount on to my buyer because our discount helps us cover the cost of shipping materials and the fees that eBay charges us on the shipping funds we get that we have to use to pay to ship the item. Another thing that plays into it is the USPS having these massive delays on ground advantage packages in my area. I upgrade everybody's package to Priority Mail if they've already paid enough to cover it (using my discount to cover it) to avoid buyers thinking their item is lost in the mail because the post office is not updating the buyers or us properly on the real estimated time of arrival for these packages.

I did the custom shipping discount of 10% that way I still have some extra to cover fees and supplies. This did help sell heavier items because it made a difference on the buyer's shipping cost. You are right Lonnie, It does make MEDIA mail less than the actual cost we pay since it is not discounted. So what I did is add to my Business Policies Media mail with a handling cost of 50 cents. I don't sell a lot of media, high or low value, so I'm ok if I have to eat some of the cost sometimes which is just a few cents.

We use those fold up boxes for summer lunch kits as they fit a juice box/milk, fruit, chippers, and a PB&J well and can handle the playground. Might want to look at food distribution as ours come from there.

ERTL Truck. ERTL has been around for some time now and as you showed that one to the camera, I didn’t spot a UPC/Bar Code, which is often a good indication an item still in its retail package is vintage, pre-dating the common use of Bar Codes.

I have always entered a lower shipping weight into my auctions, so that my buyers were given a lower shipping amount, and therefore were sharing the discount with me that way. So if I want to allow the discount to be given automatically, I'll need to correct the shipping on my items first. 🙂

First Cars: I grew up and learned to drive in Michigan in the early 70s and most of our first cars tended to be hand-me-downs from the mid-60s. Since the Road Department tended to heavily salt winter roads (for de-icing), most cars already had rusted door panels, fenders and floor boards by the time they were 5-8 years, so as we inherited them, one of the first skills we had to master was the patching of auto body parts and the mixing of Bondo Filler, to patch the rust holes. My first was a 1966 Mercury Sports Coup. Really loved that car (and the modifications we did to it) until a drunk driver T-boned it at 2 am, crushing the passenger side in and putting me in a ditch. My first car was totaled. 🤕

I didn't get any e-mail or message and I only offer standard rates. Although 99% of my listings are using a custom flat price and NOT the Calculated Shipping so that may be why I didn't get it. I like doing the flat rate charging because I don't need to put effort into weighing every item. If an items shipping cost is under the flat rate it helps cover the items that cost more than the flat rate and since majority of my items are similar (no huge variations in size/weight) it's worked pretty well.

my suggestion to all sellers is after May 15 check your business policies under Shipping and make sure that you are opted out if you in fact do not want to pass your Shipping discount onto the buyer. Because knowing eBay they'll accidentally change everybody to be opted in and it'll be up to us to physically go into our computer settings and opt out. js... 🧐

My uncle gave me my first car. He told me if I worked for him on the side outside of the job I was working at he would. And he kept his word. It was a 81 ford escort it was more holy than swiss cheese. You could pop the floor up and toss things out. That helped a lot when the police would pull me over. It only made it about two years though but it was a fun two years. It however did break down the first day of school both years I drove to highschool which is great for cool points. I never got the email, but most of my stuff goes media mail anyway. I always give the discount too so that's probably why I didn't get the email.

eBay’s method for informing Sellers of changes and problems has always been a bit hit and miss. We currently manage 3 eBay stores and rarely use Calculated Shipping. All 3 stores are operated the same way, so ponder me this: why did I only receive messages in 2 stores? I see this type of thing routinely. 😂🙃😉

My husband and I have separate eBay accounts. I have a Basic store and he does not have any store subscription. He got the notice that eBay would be changing his shipping settings and I did not. It came to his eBay messages and is on the top of his Active Listings page as a banner. I do not offer the discount to the buyer as this is one way to combat fees and packing supplies, but I feel that eventually I will be forced to do it to stay competitive and think it sucks on eBays' part to make this change. I think this is an awful move on eBay's part but what can I do. I am just one little fish in the big eBay sea.
