Yes a little gnarly there James ..the cliff edge. Great composition. Oh I loved the run across the gnarly cliff to your second shot...thanks James be safe. If we don't see you here, have a great Holiday enjoy.

I myself nearly died several times hiking around Folgefonna for great images. So for me it's natural to take a 'little risk' sometimes :D That cliff actually looked quite alright compared to what my hobby can get me into sometimes 😉

What a beautiful location I can see why you are hooked on this. Not a landscape more nature photography enthusiast but I'm definitely warming to this type of photography seeing your work. Enjoying your vids keep at it. I'm looking to either get the Nikon Z7II or the Canon R5 more likely sometime in the new year. I keep going between Nikon and Canon for the last couple decades. Never been over to the isle of Man want to go now I'm sure your natural wildlife is also more abundant compared to the mainland.

Thanks for watching! Go with the Nikon Z7! You could pick that up with the 14-30 and 24-70 f4 lenses all for the same price as the R5 body alone. That would be my recommendation 👍

New meaning to taking images up to new heights, James. Well done. Noted extra care you exerted in tripod set-up - smart. Would pano not be a good option for composition you have in mind? Looks like venue would make for stunning images when there are heavy seas and active birds. Only downer was return of the “gate pass” trope.😁. Stay safe and stock up pre-Brexit.

Thanks Paul! Yes panos would work extremely well at the Calf of Man (the second location I visited). I feel a telephoto pano could work amazingly with the setting sun there - one for the photo bucket list! Ah the gate - you did spring to mind when I filmed that, I only put that in for the cliff danger sign hung on it 👍 Rest assured gates will be few and far between generally here

I've sort of become fatalistic about H&S (must be a sign of the times). I fully expect that I'm going to end up at the bottom of a chasm somewhere or washed away by a river I failed to rock-hop over. Not helped by the realisation I've often left the mobile in the car....... Hey ho, you've gotta go somehow. I'm too old to 'die young and have a beautiful corpse' :-)

Strange how when I'm out in areas with sheer drops and I'm in control, I'm as happy as a pig in the proverbial but watching this video made my b@115 nip up. Great video lovely images

Ever thought of visiting the North Eastern Italian alps? I will be going back there this year and try do some shots and night photography. Cheers again.

Thank you for watching. I’ve never specifically looked at the Italian alps but the region does look impressive from what I know of it. Maybe one day I’ll get the chance once all this craziness is over 🙏

Hi James - great images as always - always learning from you - even though sometimes you scramble my brain - not your fault!! That's me!! Just on the Calf of Man image - sorry for being a dunce - were the increasing shutter speeds in the stack of images from front to back dictated by achieving the correct exposure? (I think you indicated it was - but just checking - duurr). Thanks again for a great vlog - stay safe kidda. :))
@JamesBrewphoto4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. Those change in shutter speeds were dialled in manually to exposure correctly for the highlights and shadows in each part of the scene. So the sun exposure was very under exposed but it allowed me to blend in highlights from that part of the sky without blowing it totally out. Hope that makes sense 🙂

Can we get a long term review of your gear head? Seems like newer videos are back to a ball head
@JamesBrewphoto3 жыл бұрын
My feelings on the geared head haven't changed. I still have it and it's still my main tripod head. I only use a ball head when I want to carry a little less weight 👍
