My sister lives in Scotland and no frost this winter! I live in Australia and this winter in the far north it was very wet and am in dread of the summer to come. I heard from a friend her son who lives in eastern WA had an expected temp. of 53C last summer. My son fights climate change on a daily basis only to find that where money talks, the thought of stopping of the money coming in scares them more than climate change. I can never get passed the idea of them leaving their children a world of horrors, is difficult to understand.

At best they should cross the street to avoid any uneasy feelings in the woman and just be considerate! The amount of men who smirk at this and don’t take me seriously always makes me aware of the “statistical probably” of men who could be part of such a “group” is potentially horribly high. Therefore not so “bonkers”. ALL men can contribute to women’s safety and should do so.

@@JeanSparrow That seems a bit extreme.. Men need to cross the road when a woman walks up? Do you often think you’re the main character? Sympathy and Empathy and secular morality are part of our evolution since since systematic removal of literal power through laws and societal punishment. Unfortunately there are those who still act in that fashion when they have the chance to do so. It's most evident in the top "1%" of societ. Will remove if it gets mentioned- but legitimately the psychological effect is learned helplessness- People feel like they lack power and influence in their lives, so they bury their heads so to speak because "well what can I do about it, I dont make the policies" and theyre so out of the loop that discussing policy with them is like pulling teeth. No matter how well intentioned they are they just feel fear about looking like an idiot to the extent they become foolishly blind to the consequences of their inaction. Also getting them to see how much more influence they could have in becoming active about it hits cognitive dissonance... then they would have to deal with the implications of their misplaced thinking and the excuses they rely on
@brianbell3836Ай бұрын
Dear Shaun, it's already too late. We're finished as a species. There's no way back.
@jiiaga5017Ай бұрын
Sometimes those people learned helplessness because they tried, over and over, and it didn't help. They hoped, the put their trust in people who promised, and they were betrayed. And after enough failure and betrayal, even the most stout person will despair and give up on it. And in the USA, the punishment for resisting is real and terrifying. Do you resist, get arrested, get labeled a socialist, get fired, and your kids suffer now... or do nothing and your kids and their kids suffer in the future, for most people it is a catch 22, a no-win scenario.
