For mistake #1 that's a principle in FPS games too - using your whole arm with a larger mousing surface engages more total muscles and increases your overall precision, it's just a known fact. Outside of some extreme outliers, it's all arm-aimers for pros

I'd say TRY to draw with your arm but if you get back pain stop it immediately. Took me a long time to learn that was killing my back. Resting my arm is the only way to draw all day without anything hurting. Just use stabilization or zoom out to draw with your wrist and still get clean lines.

A great bonus to going over your lineart again, redesign options. You can try something different in a specific spot and see how it looks with the rest. Allows for a lot of artistic freedom I feel.

I’ve been finally getting more comfortable with digital art and the drawing with your entire arm tip definitely helped a ton when I first heard it. I also have nerve damage due to medication so my hands shake a little so using large arm movements instead of wrist movements helps my lines be less shaky. That and using more angles and turning the canvas when I’m during curving lines helps a ton with my specific needs.

@VectorRecite

Procreate feels hard in start. Play around with brush stabilisation and streamline in Brush editor and it’ll be easier. Also try ‘Studio Pen’ and ‘technical pen’ brushes from Inking set and ‘Monoline’ and ‘Script’ from Calligraphy set. Brushes don’t matter but these are better suited to get used to procreate. Hope it helps. Ask anything if you need 🙌

I found your channel a week or so ago and I've been wanting to try drawing (along with every other hobby on earth), so hey, lucky me for finding you, BUT, I just wanted to say that your last tip about not rendering the entire line is really powerful. I'm super perfectionist in all my other creative outlets and overthink everything, and I could easily see myself trying to draw every single line of whatever it is I might being trying to draw. So yeah, thanks for that tip!

Tip 2 was worked godlike for me today. Didn't realize the huge benefit of it helping my line confidence so today I started doing my second sketches without even really touching my first. I was able to make pretty stuff faster while getting double the practice in lineart. It's very similar to getting over the fear of having to erase things and forcing yourself to just redraw them. Thanks for pointing that out. Would appreciate material rendering vids if you run out of ideas--specifically clothing and metal or something more general like how to approach studying any material.
