Beth, check out cruise mate. It replaces the star wheel to lock your throttle on your H D. I have one and it works great. It’s a lever that you push to the right to lock and back to the left to unlock and it’s instantaneous. You have to remove the old screw and re-tap the threads. They provide the drill bit and tap. Made in USA and veteran owned.

For cruise control, I just usually wrap a hair tie between the switch cluster, and the handle grip. Just enough to put a little tension in there. One or two wraps, and that throttle stays put just fine. But not so much that you can't bring it back to Idle. And I didn't have to spend 150 bucks for it. And you always have a hair tie if you need it.

I must say I had a throttle assist on one of my bikes once and very quickly removed it. I bumped it twice, which of course goosed the bike forward, and nearly crashed. I think it's great if you can control it, but for me, it was very definitely not good. I also met a man at the Kickstand Lodge once who had bumped his, ran the bike into his trailer, and tore up his shoulder. My advice with these is give it a try but don't be afraid to remove it if you find yourself bumping it.

That is a great tool when tuning your bike. Specially carburetor one. As a throttle assist I feel it could be dangerous.

Memories - - - - Regarding lying on your bike (4:55) into the video(?); you threw me back to 1978 while in Germany. Three of us went to a beer fest close to our base. One of my friends was riding a BMW R-1200(?). I got back to the bikes before the rest of them, waited, and waited, got tired, and lay down on my friends BMW. It was the center stand rather on the kick stand so it was more level. Sometime or other I fell over with the bike. I was embarrassed as heck. I stuck around to let my friend know what happened. He got PO'd, The party didn't turn out so well for me.

Hey, Doodle, you make all of your videos so fun! If you're ever looking for rides somewhat close to home, but not necessarily right next to it, consider your neighboring states! I don't know much of South Carolina or Tennessee, but here in got dam Alabam, I could suggest a ride to Noccalula Falls in Gadsden, or a ride along the Alabama Dragon -- granted, the former only ends with some interesting views, and the latter doesn't really have any great views. But ... at least highway 25 (the Alabama Dragon, between Vandiver and Leeds, though 25 is much, much longer than that) if you're heading north, ends in Leeds, with a killer haunted house (Atrox!) and there are some really cute little restaurants where you can get ... and it'll be tough to believe lol ... vegetables. I take the Bama Dragon home on a long way from work sometimes (OK, about once per week these days) in an SUV, and I like the ride. It's fun. I'm still saving up for my first bike. There's also an overlook just past the hairpin turn (again, heading north towards Leeds), where I've seen an occasional motorcycle or classic muscle car stopped. I know you said your guy is a car guy and doesn't ride, but he might like it, too, if he wants to drive it. I'm a recent viewer, but I thought I might toss that out there. As for Georgia, the ride out to Cave Springs in Floyd County is just ... country roads, and the Windy Hill Connector (I used to take that way too fast when I lived there) are two I might possibly recommend somewhat nearby.

Only tighten the throttle lock just enough to hold it in position and this way if you need to roll throttle forward you just twist it forward and it goes. Do not crank down on the screw too tight that it does not move as this is dangerous. Only use it when cruising on the open road

I don’t know if you’ve tried one, but you should see about riding a Kawasaki Concours 14; they’re a lot of fun, good for curvy mountains and the long highways to them.

Nice vid, will be looking at it over the next few eves. Observed Partners Cruse Control. I use a simpler one that works like a clip. In picking up your bike, may I suggest you point out locking the front wheel by tie'ing the brake handle, and have it in 1st gear. This way the wheels wont roll, and especially if you have to perform the lift on a hill. I'll look at more later - im excited that you made this trip -
