I want to come but have to work that morning and if it’s dry I will have to be farming in the afternoon. Maybe weather will permit me to make it as I really want to try to crack 500rwhp again on the stock parts ve but I haven’t had time to take the front cover off and jump the pump gear a tooth like it needs.

Hey man i apologize in advance for taking up your time but have a tech question for you. Ive asked on some forums but haven't really gotten much in response aside from speculation. 96 dodge ram 3500 4x4 (single rear wheel, 12v). Have had the truck 4-5 years, always ran great aside from going thru a couple alternators. Recently had alot going on (baby, work, and so on. Life basically). Truck was hunting for gears usually 3rd/4th if i recall. Figured tps going out. Finally had time to dig into it and realized that i had a pin hole leak in tranny line just infront of tran. And unfortunately fluid was pretty low at this point (i should have checked this much earlier, am usually very good about preventive maintenance. Now i believe im paying the price for this negligence.). Fixed leaking line and changed trans filter and replaced fluid. Also replaced rear axle speed sensor and cleaned/tested tps sensor (tested in acceptable range from idle to wot). Now truck shifts through 3rd normal but then tacks up from there. It always used to shift again around 45mph and gives that 'sit you back in your seat' feeling, rpms used to drop significantly. Now when it hits 45 it will 'shift' but it feels very weak in comparison and only drops a little rpm before they go back up. Truck cant go faster than around 65mph now. I've heard all sorts of ideas from electric interference from alternator, tps bad regardless of volt reading, also heard a designate ground from battery to tranny? But i am leaning more towards transmission issues. Is there any way to tell if it is valve body related, band adjustment or torque converter specific? Is there any way to isolate the issue or should i just rebuild the transmission. And if i do rebuild tranny is there a possibility it could be the torque converter and rebuilding tranny wont help without replacing the torque converter also. Sorry for all the info and questions but figure more info is better than less. Any input appreciated. All the best. P.s. if driving at 45-50mph and I hold a little brake pressure wial maintaining fuel pedal pressure, rpms only drop a small out. Then rpms return after releasing brake. At 50mph rpms are around 2100-2200. Thanks again.
