I have a house on the lake and yessss the water is amazingly blue normally. The storms have a sucked the beauty out of it. Also, nightlife is normally much more lively when there isn't covid and noone in mexico goes to bed at 8.

Oh man - that sounds amazing! I wish we could have seen it at it's best - it was very murky. Yeah, the nightlife was weird for sure. It felt like the whole town shut down every night.

How was Pirates Channel? Green also? My wife and I are heading there in a week. Disappointing to know it we won’t be like the postcards but still a good place to relax and set the mind right for 30 days around the peninsula.

Hey there! The Pirates Channel was tealish/blue. Seeing it from the drone view was amazing. We kayaked there one day and it was not as postcard blue as we saw, but we were also there right around hurricane season--so that might've been the reason! Hope you guys enjoy it and that the colors turn up for you!

Also - I don’t remember if we said it in the video, but be aware that the whole lagoon closes down every Wednesday. Actually, it’s not just the lagoon, it’s basically the whole town. It’s kinda nice as it’s a very quiet day, but you also can’t do anything. :)

@@LisaAndJosh that’s really interesting. Will definitely force me to sit down and finish a book I’ve had on my list for the last month. Appreciate the insights.

Hey guys! We're heading to Mexico in March (including Bacalar), and I was wondering if you came in from the US? And how it was getting your drone into the country? I've read very conflicting things haha
@LisaAndJosh3 жыл бұрын
We did come in from the US! We brought the drone in our carry-on, was not a problem for us at all. We just made sure to be careful where we flew it - Mexico seems to have a bunch of random airports with no flights in and out scattered around the country with very strict rules around drones - Tulum is a great example of this. Make sure you don't fly where it's not allowed!

@Lisa & Josh Where did you stay there? in one of the hotels on the lake with private access to the lake? Is it worth staying in a hotel not on the lake? Also, did you move there by car? or public transport?
@LisaAndJosh4 жыл бұрын
We ended up staying at a hotel that was not right on the lake, but right across the street. It was nice, but looking back, we wish we had stayed at a place with its own access and dock. Lots of them had their own kayaks and paddle boards that guests could use as well! Those hotels, unfortunately, were unavailable during the dates we were there. We got to Bacalar from Tulum by taking the ADO bus. It brought us to the Bacalar bus station and then we took a 5 minute taxi to our hotel. It was pretty straightforward, thankfully!

@@LisaAndJosh thank you so much for the detailed response and great video! One more: what would you choose between Holbox and Bacalar for few nights stay?
@LisaAndJosh4 жыл бұрын
@@ravenband No problem! Ooh, that's so hard. We absolutely loved Holbox--mostly because it was a small island and was very easy to get around. If we had to choose, we would definitely choose Holbox! Bacalar was beautiful, but we felt like Holbox had more to see and do.

@@LisaAndJosh great!) Looks like Holbox will be more suitable for solo traveler, right? Thanks!
