Truly a powerful dialogue w/a warrior 🤴🏾 whose presence we should both celebrate & cherish✊🏾‼️‼️‼️ Let’s give him his flowers now bc like he said doing so later, “he’s dead.” So allawe who know the ourstorical connections of these modern day movements, let’s reach/teach our youth who are in the front lines.. Let’s start right now, share & distribute information like this interview ✊🏾‼️‼️‼️ Excellent work @JaredBall. I’m going to compile these interviews into an accessible file & encourage all ppl I know of who as activists to study the information shared & then move forward via taking action 👏🏾‼️‼️‼️ ❤️ to King @DhorubaBinWahad

THE SECOND SERMON ON THE WARPLAND 1. This is the urgency: Live! and have your blooming in the noise of the whirlwind. 2. Salve salvage in the spin. Endorse the splendor splashes; stylize the flawed utility; prop a malign or failing light- but know the whirlwind is our commonwealth. Not the easy man, who rides above them all, not the jumbo brigand, not the pet bird of poets, that sweetest sonnet, shall straddle the whirlwind. Nevertheless, live. 3. All about are the cold places, all about are the pushmen and jeopardy, theft- all about are the stormers and scramblers, but what must our Season be, which starts from Fear? Live and go out. Define and medicate the whirlwind. 4. The time cracks into furious flower. Lifts its face all unashamed. And sways in wicked grace. Whose half-black hands assemble oranges is tom-tom hearted (goes in bearing oranges and boom). And there are bells for orphans- and red and shriek and sheen. A garbageman is dignified as any diplomat. Big Bessie’s feet hurt like nobody’s business, but she stands-bigly-under the unruly scrutiny, stands in the wild weed. In the wild weed she is a citizen, and is a moment of highest quality; admirable. It is lonesome, yes. For we are the last of the loud. Nevertheless, live. Conduct your blooming in the noise and whip of the whirlwind. -Gwendolyn Brooks, from *In the Mecca*, 1968

I always love when you have Dhoruba on. I learn so much from him. I understand and agree with a lot of what he's saying about the newer movements but I wonder if he and (other former BPP members who are critical of BLM) have tried to reach out, sit down, and talk to some of the members and leaders of abolitionist and grassroots organizations who are fighting against police terror. To be clear, I'm talking about the sincere and real organizers/orgs with real bases and roots in communities, not the grifters or talking heads. Personally I feel like it's a better use of time to talk to actual organizers and orgs rather than celebrities like T.I. Like Dhoruba said, these people aren't our leaders, so what's the purpose of prioritizing them for sit down meetings and not oganizers? A convo with w/ those folks would go a longer way in helping to nationalize the work and incorporate some of these other important points you and Dhoruba are talking about.

Barely 2000 views and but 46 comments. This reflects the loss of the cognitive base of this society and culture we live in. This man is addressing the crucial material and political issues of our time. Agree or disagree, he elevates the discourse. How much more interesting and substantial would the public discussion be if it was DBW in the mix vs. the liberal complaint of the likes of Sharpton, Roland Martin, Oprah, the CBC, etc., or the reactionary black conservative zombies too numerous to name. It isn't just black folks who need their thinking challenged by this man, it's white folks as well. But our culture marginalizes substance, yet young people are so very hungry for it. It is healthy to hear all sides in order to evolve. This man needs to be heard. He forces all participants to sharpen their critique, even if they diverge from DWB's analysis. This is how the dialectic is advanced and progress happens. Ups to Prof. Ball for providing a platform for ideas brought forth by DBW. I agree with much he says and might depart from him in some of his positions. But he makes me think and takes me out of my comfort zone. I also observe that black media, with a few exceptions, also ignores DBW. Perhaps he makes them look bad and feel guilty. They need to get over that. Its funny how networks that profess to like controversy run like cockroaches from this man. But if I were them, I'd run too.

More Dhoruba bro, just more. We forget that some of our strongest freedom fighters are still alive. We need to know actually how they failed and where we are going wrong. We need every piece of information they have. So that we can build where they left off. Instead every generation fails because we fail to build off the knowledge and movement of the previous generation.

Don't be so hard on BLM!! I was intricately involved in the organization led by 3 black women and many of the members who did and do significant work around the country. They also have international relationships, there were opportunities for trips abroad even when I was in the organization. We learn and we grow. We all have a role.

it is critic! his critic is very valid. put your guards down. he is not against black lives matter. he wants it to reach for its roots. which is a very valid argument considered that it is being coopted by the mainstream! which makes it ineffective forour struggle.

BLM is an idea. The organizations are local addressing the needs of the community at hand. We must create a strong foundation first.

The more I hear from Dhoruba Bin Wahad the more I like him and recognize how much an expert of Marxist-Leninism he is. You can tell he’s an expert because he describes the theory in his own words. He’s in danger of becoming my favorite communist from what is known as the US.

See, S. Korea and DPRK is relevant to colonization discourse and politics. Dhoruba had a more articulate and comprehensive understanding of this. I'm just trying to understand the reach of US imperialism as someone who studies world literature from a political lens.

@@BlackLiberationMedia My bad for suggesting it's on Dhoruba by saying "it's funny" as if he doesn't live in a hostile environment. No YT, I wasn't thinking hostile environment when I wrote it but of other activists and revolutionaries have done it too before him, so that pattern beyond Dhoruba was on my mind when I wrote it. Thanks for the video.
