One of my friends and his family has lived in Cape Coral for nearly 30 years. I visited Cape Coral three years in a row in the winter of 1997, 1998, and 1999. I visited again in 2008. I found it to be beautiful, comfortable, always something to do, relaxing, close to the beaches, and a nice place to potentially call home. I don’t know what it’s like today, but I don’t have a single bad thing to say about it.

People write comments that are total nonsense so for one of them bellow.. Yes, the City of Cape Coral’s Utility Expansion Project (UEP) is indeed a significant undertaking. The North 1 West and North 1 East areas are part of this project, which aims to extend water, sewer, and irrigation services to these regions1. The project includes the installation of new lift stations, upgrades to existing ones, new master pump stations, irrigation storage tanks, replacement of storm drain pipes, and newly paved roads1. The cost of $35,000 you mentioned is likely the assessment fee for property owners in these areas to cover the expenses of these extensive infrastructure improvements1. This project is expected to enhance property values, improve public safety with the installation of fire hydrants, and provide a reliable source of drinking water and wastewater services

My wife and I visited the area after we watched several videos on KZbin. The place looked interesting, and we decided to investigate the area ourselves. Let's just say that after two weeks of visiting the area during the months of September, December, February, April and June and we found how horrible the traffic and population becomes from October to April. We drove through many communities and found some that were truly lovely and were interested in purchasing a home. What turned us off were the prices of homes, the home insurance, and auto insurance, plus the cost of utilities and groceries. You mentioned in your video about shopping malls. Definitely would be nice to have other choices then to drive one hour to reach one. Also, there is a faint, pungent odor that lurks around from area to area possibly the fish or water. We decided that Cape Coral wasn't for us. Though we were impressed with the high end communities and appealed to our tastes. Your videos are amazing! Thank you for creating and sharing them for informational purposes.

My Dad had his home built in Cape Coral -1979. We had the benefit of knowing the builder Mr. Rosen and his family and he did a special upgrade on our house as he built his next door. Cape Coral was wonderful at time and for many years it was pleasant and enjoyable. My family lives in Nevada, and would spend several months each year in Florida and know it well. Sad to say, in the late 80's it changed, and never regained the charm it once had. My wife and I took possession of the property 3 years ago and I kept the house up to November 2023. The taxes, insurance rates, Nor-Eastern's, substandard law enforcement, including (Drunk and HIGH driving all over the place), the rip-off culture associate with most contractors & services, water supply & pollution, etc. has made this once wonderful paradise, just a place for day- to - day survival. The WEATHER is Nature and if you like living in a Tropical environment you can't complain.

We moved to Bonita Springs in 1982. My husband had to start his own business to make a decent living. We lived in Ft Myers too for 5 yrs. Built 2 homes. Our last home was paid for and we sold in 2006. Way to many people. Way to much traffic. It wasn't bad at all when we first moved there. It grew to much, to fast. They were discussing why they aren't burying power lines in Texas in another video. The power company in Texas discussing this says that the flooding of power lines underground is the issue. Also, underground power lines lose energy to the surroundings more efficiently than when suspended in the air. Maintenance costs are more expensive, especially when it's replacement time.

a good 45 min. in heavy traffic. The power lines are dangerous, and the reason they are not buried is tax dollars wasted. I hope insurance companies leave the rest of us alone. You want to live in dangerous areas of FL. why should the rest of us pay for your folly. I lived in The cape for 20 yrs, and got out just before the housing crash. Best move we ever made.

I don't understand your correlation between tax dollars and power lines. I'm pretty sure (more research may be necessary) that the Utility companies pay for their own infrastructure. As far as traffic, we don't like it either. That's why we don't typically travel during the rush hours. We've also found that similar to be everywhere we visited around the U.S. Thank you for watching!

Florida in general is a transient state. It’s people either moving from other states to retire or tourists visiting for a short time. With that comes a general lack of community because no one has permanent roots. The natives are a different breed and only a small segment of the population. So if your looking for a sense of community anywhere in FL good luck. Even in FL “ gated communities “ neighbors barely know or interact with each other.
@livinginflАй бұрын
It definitely can feel the way you describe. However, I will say that we've experienced the complete opposite. There are many communities that are tighter knit. You have to know where they are and you have be willing to be out making friends.

Lived full time in the Cape for 11 yrs now. There’s 6 months of weather heaven, 2 months of so so, and 4 months of hot, humid, rainy hell. The 4 bad months you have to become a night person and come out after dark, at least locally, sort of like millions do in S.E. Asia. Summer trips to Naples area, Punta Gorda, and across eastward to Fort Lauderdale helps to break up the dreaded summers and add fun. Besides hit ‘n runs, crime isn’t high. Keep your car doors locked at night or the kids and teenagers will go through them. Despite the high cost of services in Cape Coral, it’s relatively safe and quiet here considering we’re already a city of 250,000.

@bandbyoneMIDI - Great question. Should you be worried about it, no. Should you be aware of it yes. Homes that have or will have assessements are typically cheaper in price because of the future assessments. It's important to buy the home at the right price. The assessments are split up into payments. It's important to know that if I had to guess, that it's a 70/30 ratio. 70% of properties have already paid the assessments, and 30% have not. You're going to find more properties that owe assessments in the North part of Cape Coral. Any other questions, let me know. Here is the official site with all the info on assessments: www.capecoral.gov/uep/index.php
