My mother was a social worker back in the 60's and when I was a kid she told me of a black client who named her child oranjello. When asked how she choose that name she replied that while going through the cabinet she saw a box of orange jello. So much for culture based naming. Or maybe it is a reflection on the culture.

I used to book birthday parties at Discovery Zone. One lady reserved a place for her daughter--I kid you not--"Lesbia." The next question in my script was "will there be boys and girls there?" When she said that it would be girls only, I had to almost bite my tongue to keep from saying "kinda figured." Then I went to college with a very nice young lady named--ready?--"Eunita Mann." Say it out loud if it helps.

@@Otherhats It isn't, necessarily, but "shock comics" often use profanity by itself, as if that's funny.
