People forget as well as running he also held the world record for pullups. You can knock running all you want, it will pull you back out of depression and give you mental clarity with out a prescription. Goggins is not an influencer, his an inspiration. As a fighter myself, I know how horrible it feels when you run out of gas in a fight and the opponent is coming for you, honestly. But there are way worse things on this planet, I served in the German Mountain troops (gebirgsjäger) and we ran up mountain after mountain, and even with all of the fighting done in my life, I felt like the biggest bitch, because I wish I could quit somehow but I couldn´t. David Goggins is actively fighting this mental state of being broken, there is no way he would ever quit against strickland even the sparring session goes for an hour, he would sacrifice his whole body just to get through it. David is not accepting that challenge, because the internet crowd is pretty dumb and would see that sparring session as a loss for goggins, because he would get beaten up. That´s why he´s challenging Sean to a real challenge, where they are equivalent. He´s not challenging him to a ultra marathon or a pull up contest, but to a workout session, just to show Sean what he´s about, the mentality to not quit. How Goggins challenging to a real challenge? Goggins body is used to running that much. That’s all he does how is it equivalent? Sean’s has skills and Goggins has endurance. They both think they are tough so they are challenging each other to do each thing they think they are best at. Problem is why isn’t Goggins sparring first and then doing his session? They both act tough and invincible and but reality is they are human as well and both of them want an advantage over the other. If Goggins spars first gets hurt he can’t do his endurance training. If Sean does Goggins session first and fails then he can’t spar. They are not in the same sport. And they won’t come to an agreement since both of them want an advantage. It’s that simple. It’s never happening.

He was downed many times, and got into a defensive/fetal postion. He wasn't mounting an offense. He wasn't countering. He wasn't moving. He mostly just sat there like a punching bag. So he didn't give up as far as the literal definition of the term, but he certainly offered zero resistance. To add to this, Sean obviously took it easy on him save for a hard punch here and there. If Sean wanted to force the SEAL to quit via some submission that would have resulted in a broken bone, the SEAL most certainly would have. Sean could have shut the SEAL's lights out at any time. I don't mean to ramble, I just wanted to clarify.

I think it was mainly due to the backlash he was receiving and how many supporters of David Goggins kept chiming in. I’m positively sure if given the opportunity to pummel David Goggins in a fist fight Sean would take it. The problem is that it quickly escalated for no reason into a fight challenge. Sean said he couldn't last, David said he couldn't last, then it turns into Sean challenging the SEALs to a 25 minute spar session, which looked awful but I'm glad Mitch represented even though he's been a veteran and not an active SEAL for the last 6 years. Sean, a man who wore that champion belt, wants to now fight David, a retired SEAL who doesn't train for the UFC everyday. It's pathetic.
