Been a combat sports fan since Jan 01, 2004. The Tony Ferguson story is especially painful for me because it's a reminder of the BJ Penn story, only much more brutal and him not being able to become the undisputed LW champion, in a division at a time, when it's one murder's row after another. Forever an El Cucuy fan.

Besides the fact that he's gone physically and looked like he was moving through molasses the whole fight, mentally he wasn't able to do the most basic of defenses. I'm a non competitive older purple belt. Much older than Ferguson, and I can tell you without a doubt I would have put up more of a fight in that position and at least fought the hands or done some amount of blocking of my neck at the very least. Ferguson didn't put up any resistance at all, not positionally, and not with a hand fight or blocking his neck. Just that much is absolutely ingrained in me from the amount of training I've done, so it doesn't make any sense as to how Ferguson didn't react. That was hard to watch, and hard to listen to Ferguson's delusions and lies at this point.

I think that the UFC have an obligation to Tony, as an "employee", to call an end to his UFC career for his own safety. I fell in love with UFC at a time when Tony was on top form ... but he is a shadow of that self and he seems incapable of seeing his own obvious decline over the past 8 fights (or so). It is concerning, for his health, that he goes elsewhere or switches to another sport, but I believe that Tony would be an excellent coach ... he has such an unique approach that needs to be continued in the sport.

Michael Chiesa knew that Tony Ferguson the type of guy that would tell him, "hold on, I'm talking brother!" During, his post-fight with DC. So, he pre-emtively, gave up the mic to Tony Ferguson and accepted fate. What do you think about THAT!? UNCLE CHAEL!

Tony is so intense as a person you do wonder if something is wrong. Josh Thomson said after Gaethje he would not have it anymore as did most. Josh by the way knows because he had that happen to him and it was Tony that did it. I don't know how anyone comes back from a shattered eye socket but at 40 and after that beating? I hope Tony is well set financially. If so there is no reason for him to fight again and please for God's sake not in BKFL where MMA fighters go to get disfigured and make a few more checks. If the name is marketable enough, they go box Jake and make some money getting humiliated and adding another concussion. Maybe they go to slap league and utterly damage their brains. We're in danger of martial arts going into a dark period, I fear. I hope Tony pulls up before he's one of the prime poster boys.

Taking a fight against Chiesa was crazy. Chiesa is way bigger than Tony. Chiesa couldn’t make 155 for a million dollars. Chiesa is also a grappler. Tony of 10 years ago would’ve been submitted in the first.

We all love Tony. 8 losses in a row must tell him to retire. The Justin beat down crushed him, never been the same.

If anyone hasn’t noticed Tony has major mental health issues. He’s been out of his mind for a long time now. He’s got no business fighting anyone anymore. He needs to go see a doctor

Chael has the right idea, we all love Tony, but right now, IMO, Tony needs tough love, I hope he gets it from someone who he'll listen to. Tough lesson to learn.

He really missed that Khabib fight. He said something inside him has lost. Maybe UFC should persuade Khabib to fight Tony to make him retire completely.. 😅

Tony still did a brutal weigh cut when Kabib fell out in 2020 and weeks later he did it again to get xtra brain damage against Gaethje. If he doesn't care, me neither anymore.

Tony's downfall is mind boggling. How does a man go from total domination to non-competitive in a span of 1-2 fights? Just amazing. It depresses me.

My dad has this joke where after we watch a fighter get dominated he always says “he needs to retire.” And he said that when Tony fought Justin and then the fight after that which was either Charles or someone else I’m not sure but i am starting to think Tony should have just retired because his legacy would be a lot more respected than it is right now I really think Tony should have just backed out of the Justin fight and trained to fight Justin instead of fighting him when he did a full camp for khabib… I think Tony is too much a warrior which I respect but I don’t know I just feel like a lot of stuff kept happening to him that he didn’t need
