In this video I want to discuss the amount of faith that some people may put into content creators. This is not a personal jab at TechLead. His name kept coming up in my React Native video so I used him as an example to address this topic

Good points man... **Slowly moves my Top 2020 Languages script into trashbin...** Haha, no, in all seriousness, definitely good points. It is a lot of responsibility and people who create content should keep that in mind before creating a clickbait title for views. Hell, I’ve had people write me about career advice and literally write “I’ll do whatever you think is the right move”. I always try to emphasize to take any advice I give with a grain of salt because everyone is different. I mostly enjoy writing backend Python, but that’s me. Someone else might love front-end JavaScript, or creating desktop GUIs, or updating legacy FORTRAN code... maybe programming isn’t even what they’d enjoy most and should approach something different altogether. Anyways, good points and great advice. Keep up the great work!

Yeah it does take a lot of effort to come up with quality content and then managing time with freelancing or job. I started my channel 3 months back and yeah that really demotivates junior devs who are taking those bootcamps, when they see a video highlighting a particular technology that they are putting their soul into is a garbage, really will piss them off and even those who start professional coding at later stages of their life maybe at 36-37 when they write their first line of code and then they see such a video stating that what you are learning is a garbage, it really makes the learner highly depressed and even demotivated to really continue and make an impact. Hats off to you, @TraversyMedia, @TheNetNinja and many others, you all are changing countless lives and bringing a rising sun in the lives of those people who are at tough spot. I too have joined the league and do my best to make some impact on this front as well. Thanks a lot for this video

@@TraversyMedia Indeed, one of my acquaintances lives in USA, he feels a bit depressed because he has a family to feed and he is not earning at the moment, because he had an Arts background then he went into professional development (full stack). At the age of 35, he started learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and he feels a bit depressed at times because of the imposter syndrome, just because he started late ofcourse there is no right age to start coding. Any one can do it just need immense dedication and courage to continue and persist. And if such kind of videos comes in front of their eyes, that is really not motivating. When you or for that matter any content creator put some content, learners acknowledge that, it makes them feel that there is someone that is serving as a source of motivation that they can achieve what they want. Our goal as a content creator should be to motivate people rather than discouraging them that this or that piece of stuff that you are doing is shit and all.

My 2 cents: I follow guitar youtubers, bodybuilding/fitness youtubers and even a bit of the arm wrestling youtube community. In each of these niches, you have creators who you can categorize as being serious, boring, comedic, negative, etc.. What's great about KZbin is that we have a feedback system in place, through commenting, subscribing and liking/disliking. Not only that, feedback is generated by other creators addressing each other (like this video). In guitar, the current drama is based on "Rob Chapman" (do a search on youtube). In fitness, the current drama is "KENNY KO Calum Von Moger" In each of these situations, there's someone who did or said some stupid things, and the community overwhelmingly spotted it, addressed it, and I guarantee you -- made that person reexamine their approach. So, go ahead and produce stupid content, there's a good chance people are going to think you're stupid for doing so. Edit: In our niche, we have TechLead as an example -- But also an even more extreme example is Siraj Raval. My god, I can't still believe he uploads. Every video he uploads he's being decimated in the comments. 😂

Thanks for the video, Brad. As someone who's working super hard on my portfolio, trying to get a developer job, fighting against the clock because I'm almost broke and without a job right now, those kinds of videos you mentioned have really brought me down sometimes. I like your channel because it's always informative, helpful and devoid of that kind of negativity. Thank you for all you do to help me and others!

The important thing is we students understand who is lying or misleading and who is really helping others. please don't even bother yourself with negative people out there(I'm not referring to any specific person) . You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you for helping us . you are making this world a better place by educating others.

I've seen some of TeachLead's thoughts on React Native, and I think they're pretty balanced. Maybe his video titles are a bit click-baiting (or a lot), but I don't judge the quality of his content by their titles. I see where you're coming from though.

Thanks and keep it up.

That video was just heart felt, want to do something different after 5 years of react day to day. I did end up making a project in lit-html/lit-element and went right back to react. It's not all positive out there. It's all good to make a "negative" content. The purpose is to share these experiences to as many as possible to prevent/avoid bad things to happen and to raise awareness. Why can't we just appreciate the content regardless if it's positive or negative? There is always something you can learn even from the "negative" content, if you just keep an open mind.
@CoderFoundry

@@beverlymontgomery9105 It's different to have a negative opinion of something in order to assist someone in making an informed decision and just being a negative troll. I may say a scammy MLM scheme is trash as it takes advantage of someone, but I wouldn't say Node is trash because I prefer .net. At the end of the day, it's all opinions and we prefer to showcase the positive in the world of development.
