I listened to this mix on Spotify after hearing the track on one of your videos and the mix sounds great. Did you end up going with LIMITER for the final master of this track?

I just went back and checked, and no. I used Newfangled Audio's Elevate on this track. I don't think LIMITER was out yet when I mixed this, otherwise I almost certainly would have as I've used it on almost every rock track I've done since getting it (lighter music still gets Elevate as LIMITER struggles with really sparse tracks).

Oh, and thanks for saying the mix sounds great! Bonsai Trees are awesome, and despite those mixes being a handful of years old, there still some of my favorites I've done.

hey, my ears liked it when you cranked the NRG, by I know my ears deceive me. What is downside of cranking it up?

There's not necessarily any downside! It's just a matter of taste. It's adding some harmonics and saturation, so you just might prefer more saturation than me. The only thing to keep an eye out for is that the volume increases as you turn the slider up, so just make sure you like the actual effect and not just the louder level.

If you ask me, it seems to think I want to make everything Loudness Wars competitive no matter which preset I choose. I got to where I avoided pushing the Gain to where it was suggesting just so I can have a Dynamic [aka not "Squashed" mix.] 😶

Hmmm...that seems strange. I'll have to take another look when I'm back in the studio on Monday, but typically for me, the lower range of the gain suggested settings is fairly quiet, and it's not until you get towards the top of that range (or set it to a louder preset) that things start getting up there.

This looks looks like it simplifies and streamlines what their Animate does inside a limiter/compressor. Big tick probably😃.

Ah, you're probably right! I kinda forgot about Animate, but yeah, I bet the Energy and Punch sliders are probably borrowed from Animate!

No Oversampling?

Yeah, it's got oversampling! You can turn it on and off in the settings window, or it automatically turns on when you engage either the punch or energy sliders.
