Wet suit is much cheaper than new parts and labor for repairs. That if the water is cold. I do beach my ski, but also shot off and start ski in 5’ of water and I do shake and bounce ski before starting after beaching, water is nice and warm thought.

Well said Kevin, did t know the carbon seal was victimized In Shallow water. I never start near a beach. Learned that 30 years ago on my ‘87 650sx kawi. It is a little thought to rock a 900lb RXTX300 though

That fine sand impregnates the carbon seal and chews it all to hell.

Have you ever heard of the C clip retainer coming loose on the drive shaft and wearing out the recess in the drive shaft and the carbon seal coming forward on the drive shaft, I had to replace the drive shaft

Yup. Improvements have been made to the Carbon Seal System but it’s still inferior to the sealed bearing on Yamahas and Kawasaki’s.

Again, we've got to regurgitate what the OE's demand; and in the case of wave jumping, they're not wrong.

I made myself a 6 foot pole that detaches so it can fit in the storage bin. All I have to do is fit it together in 3 seconds and push the ski out until half the pole is under water and then quickly disassemble and stow it away. As for running the engine out of the water why can't you get a hose and blast a jet into the shaft opening? The water will fill up in the space between the shaft and the carbon seal both cooling and lubricating it just like when it's in the water. That should easily buy you enough time to do whatever you need to do without worrying about overheating.

A lot of folks have proposed that idea. The theory holds water (har har) but we haven't seen enough data to recommend it.

Suspect is also worse if start AND idle in the shallow area. I doubt that bad if kicking off from say "bottom of your shorts depth" ie 2 feet not 3, with ski moving deeper from your push off, and starting and immediately moving even deeper.
@watercraftjournal
@watercraftjournal 3 жыл бұрын
NO, it is NOT. Push the ski out to a MINIMUM of 3 FEET DEEP.
@canlungdoc
@canlungdoc 3 жыл бұрын
@@watercraftjournal Staying in shallow isn't worse than starting in shallow alone? And if it's short's depth at back of your ski, with a subsequent push off as you step on, it is nearly always going to be 3' at the pump when you start engine. 3' for engine start is different than 3' before stepping onto ski.

So I guess what your saying is when you unload turn your ski around and walk it to four feet of water no ramp I've been on has you at four feet also the same with loading? How are you going to know how deep you are maybe you should do an load unload video

@@watercraftjournal When you back your trailer into the water at the ramp the water depth is no ways near 3 to 4 feet deep. I'm assuming you should push your PWC off the trailer then turn it around push it to the 4 foot depth mark then board it. If so loading your pwc onto a trailer would cause even a bigger pain as to determine were 4 or even 3 foot depth mark is. I understand the point your making and it makes since. I guess I could back the trailer in the water father to get to that depth but loading is another challenge. any intel on this would be greatly apricated.
