*cries in willow main* lol. she's genuinely so good post-rework and people are only sleeping on her because she used to be bad. "fires you set don't spread" means lighting enemies (including bosses) on fire, making them freak out and run around and stop hitting you, without any fear of them spreading the fire. with her embers, she gets a mini starcrawler staff feature on day one if you have her skills unlocked and simply kill like two burning spiders (you can cook on it, it's warm, it's crazy bright, and it gives a wild sanity buff if you stand in it as her, but it lasts like half a day and will set fires that do spread if burnables are too close to it). her lighter means you never make a torch in your life because the skill tree does indeed solve that brightness issue, and you can refuel it with embers. bosses drop like 6 embers, smaller enemies drop one, and things like beefalo drop a few. she gains sanity by being near fire, so free sanity regen constantly. and you NEVER have to actively farm nightmare fuel in your life. just go crazy and drop bernie on the ground, and he fights them for you. him dying is rough though and maining her means you never learn to fight nightmares yourself 😅 gotta keep sewing kits on deck. bernie will even fight the nightmares if you're only seeing them rather than being attacked by them if you up his skill tree, meaning you yourself are in no danger even if he dies. but don't leave him on the ground on 0%, because he decomposes after a couple days laying there.

Yeah, I said S-Tier with skill tree decked out for her. But without her skills that kinda change how you play her entirely, she still pretty eh lol

LETS GOOOO! I do agree that having a skill tree = S tier atm. Overall agree with the tier list. I’d put Walter in C even though I rarely see people play the character as well and Winona in B tier cause she brings more to a solo and group play setting then Walter and Wes.

As a Warly main, let me add my 2 cents lol. Warly is kinda strange, because as a support character he is an easy S tier, the sheer power he gives his team makes him a must in multiplayer situations. On his own he requires a little more skill, but still gives you some great advantages. For example, using waterballoons + spicy jelly on dfly gives you a guaranteed 2 scales on her doing it solo. Also Moqueca is OP if you take the time to get the fish. But the reason I like him, is that he is fun to play. He has a nice personality, and requires you to play the game in a different way to get him to his full potential. Plus, being the chef of an entire server is a lot of fun in my opinion! He also has some really good skins if you care about those. I'm rambling, but I'll take any excuse to talk at length about my favourite character :)

i have the snowfallen skin for him. usually that skinset for all characters look pretty cool. He's the best support character, but I feel that he isn't perfect or all around suitable enough to be S tier. We can make up categories saying "well in this situation he is S tier" but I was trying to gauge it from an all around character survival experience.

At first I was a little surprised by how high you ranked Wickerbottom but then if you think about it a little bit not only can she control weather, the lunar cycle, grow any crop combo instantly etc. but her combat options are insane. War beefalo + 15 grumble bees is pretty good DPS already but if you farm saffron feathers (which with her is easy) and you use practical rains you are hitting at range (with bee support) at 150.... Pretty bonkers.

Okay so Wanda damage is a minor part of her kit. Unless you experienced with her you want to be midle aged which is like 94 damage per hit. Heres some bullet points to make my case for moving Wanda to S: 1. Extra range which lets you get more hits while kitting then every other character 2. The no downside team rez 3. Giving your teammates free sanity by killing yourself and letting them rez you with a tel heart that you crafted and healed off with your 2min cooldown heal 5. Teleport across the map insta 6. literally outrage Klauss (poor guy gets bullied) having no sanity drain from night armor/dreadstone when old 7. Using the portal to reselect Wanda to spam her items 8. Taffy being her favorite food (45 hunger, 15 sanity) for 3 honey and a twig 9. Doesn't suffer from health reduction & having constant healing (as many watches as you feel like carrying) Secret upside: When she dies it says you died due to time running out so your team will never know how you died which leads to funny convos explaining yourself cos real teammates always ask

A Wes tech for getting nightmare fuel is with the party balloons. They restore the save amount of sanity as they take to craft but if you create enough to go insane. leave the balloons in piles of about four. And fight the nightmares. Killing a nightmare grants sanity and you have fuel. Keep making balloons until you have the fuel you want. Then pop some of your party balloon groups and since you got sanity for killing nightmares your at higher sanity then you started and have nightmare fuel. Just make sure you are still wearing armor, popping balloons hurts.

i wish wurt had more going for her but i do agree that she is an interesting character that can absolutely just chill in the game. her 0.25x fish spoilage makes her really benefit from ice breams and scorching sunfish to the point where she doesnt care for seasons. i see some people complain that she is not as good of a gatherer as maxwell but i think wurt was supposed to be kind of a jack of all trades, yeah her merms are not good with bosses with aoe attacks, yes maxwell chops trees faster, but i honestly think that the fact that she can still chop trees pretty fast (and be perfectly safe from tree guards cuz they agro onto merms that absolutely shred the stupid tree) and basically farm raid bosses like dragonfly and bee queen with no danger of being spanked by wicker's tentacle is amazing. i also have heard that her veganism is a massive downsides which is not true since she can devour kelp and sustain herself that way and the only downside is health food but even then i feel like blue caps are a good way of quickly restoring some health. kinda sad that wurt mains still get a lot of shit just for playing her cuz "she is objectivity not the best at anything" it hurts as a wurt main. even so i dont think she is op or trash as some people say! i think she is quite an average character but hopefully her skilltree will add some new things to her just to spice up some of her gameplay aspects

ok i'll reply seriously. I definitely missed a lotta stuff. And a lot of it is so intricate like the ice breams and scorching sunfish that personally I never go out of my way to fish seasonal fish. it's too much of a hassle for me when I can just wear a tam and burn an occasional tree or wear an eyebrella during summer. it seems pointless. I think wurt is good at combat with her merms. Granted AoE is a big reason this method falls flat but most important bosses that do mainly AoE like Celestial Champion's buzzsaw spin are fairly easy to face against solo if you know the kiting patterns. merms are there for fluff and extra damage points. It's very easy to survive as her. To make combat leaps like wigfrid or wolfgang would be impossible to reach by any character, so comparing "average" survivors to characters who excel in one field is a little silly.

fair enough they are quite annoying to get cuz fishing in the game kinda sucks, this also ties to the fact that the only way for wurt to get gold without character swapping is to trade ocean fish with the merm king and that is just annoying to do (trident and wicker's book that spawn fish might help with gold but i would consider it character swapping). i myself try to get at least 4 of each to swap them every 4 days or so cuz i dont wanna carry with me an eyebrella/ thermal stone and a tam, i would rather get fishes and sacrifice 1 inventory slot to combat seasons but i get that this is just preference. as of merms dealing extra damage so the fight with bosses go faster i need to 100% agree! damn the 1st time that toadstool was defeated was with rabbids altho they did not last long into the fight they helped do extra damage! so merms are not completely useless with bosses like this. still its kinda weird seeing people say that she is broken op or complete garbage cuz she isn't and i feel like people that do say that are a bit cherrypicky, still a fun character tho

Actually Grim Galette is quite useful. This is the only food that can heal wormwood and very usefull against cc boss. Because in this fight u need to keep your sanity low and hp max.

lol i forgot a lot to address. I might make a pinned comment soon about it all. Wilson's skill tree discussion was originally in the video, I scrapped it though due to yapping and too much filler words (uhm, like). I think his skill tree does not change him drastically as a starting character. He can't summon fire, has no crazy strong hidden buffs. His skill tree straight up tells you what will happen to him and that's that. His transmutations: some good, some bad. I think icky is great due to beard hair and bone shards if you wanna craft some for warly's bone boullion. Gem tier 3 is just ridiculous. No need to worry about making a fire staff to turn into a moon staff. Crazy useful. The rest, I never used that much. Still better than Winona for starting out imo. Beard hair is insanely valuable. He is also just the character to choose who wants a pure vanilla experience and wants to know how combat and exploration may differ if a wilson main was to switch to someone else with their own stats, drawbacks, and pros.
