It's always taken me an hour to fall asleep - taking Melatonin helps me get to sleep sooner and stay asleep (especially dealing with snoring). It's a huge plus for me.

I have trouble sleeping due to PTSD from Vietnam and have tried several things to help me. Over the counter sleeping aids work but I don’t want to take them regularly so I tried CBD. I took that for some years but realised it was leaving me hung over even on only a couple of drops. About a month ago I found an old bottle of melatonin and until that ran out it worked a treat. Bought some more, different brand but after only one night found that the effect the next day was also too much as I operate dangerous machinery quite often. So I’ve gone back to my old standby, meditation and self hypnosis. My nightly routine is to program my mind and now part of that is with to do with sleep. I programmed myself to shut down disturbing thoughts after I’m awake, and having had a couple of hour’s sleep. If my mind starts to disturb me now I have no difficulty in throwing it out of gear and get back to sleep and even stay asleep (as programmed) until 7 AM. This is the best result for me as it involves no drugs or supplements at all. I’ve only been doing this for about 10 days but so far it seems to be the answer. The mind is a powerful tool.

I've only ever had to get this for the youngest child. Only because I could be up literally until 5am, it's been a lifesaver for both myself & child. Now 30mins-60mins later they are asleep before midnight a major win.

Wow, thanks so much for this. Long term insomniac, potentially wrongly diagnosed for 30 years. So much to give, but an empty tank. I appreciate your efforts. Raising awareness. Hopefully soon the UK will take adhd seriously.

One of kid 5yo might have some mild ADHD/ADD, long term wise we giving him 1.5mg per gummy almost every night to help him sleep earlier for maybe 2 years now. Without it he would likely play till 12-2am that’s very bad for all the rest of family members who wish to rest early and wake up 5:30-6am every day. Any suggestions?

I like to get melatonin from the sunset ... then I keep lighting very low ... and then a cup of warm milk with a splash of vanilla and very small amount of sugar. Gives us the sweetest dreams too. And ... we feel really good in the morning. Melatonin gives us bad dreams ... feel not that great in the morning. Walking makes us sleep the best.

My doctor told me to take it in winter only. I have severe SAD. I take it when I first wake up and sit under my SAD lamp. It helps wake me up. Melatonin is biphasic, it is responsible for both sleep and waking up.

I take 5mg before bed to relax the valve in my stomach to relax and close properly as I suffer from GERD, not to fall asleep, it is one of the reasons I was able to get off my Losec stomach meds, which are much more dangerous than melatonin . There are other uses for this medication that you should also take into consideration.

I took melatonin… once! It is not without side effects although I do think I am a rare case. Nevertheless, the reason I only took it once was because the night I took it I had a debilitating night terror. I have never had a night terror before. Nightmares of course, that’s normal for any person, but this was not only the most intense dream I’ve had in my life where it actually physically affected me when I woke up, I couldn’t wake up from it or control anything in my dream even though I had become aware that I was dreaming. All my doctor told me was that I had to keep taking it and get use to it. Definitely wasn’t going to do that. Not risking that again if I can help it. As I said, I’m pretty sure I’m a rare case of this side effect, but knowing that’s how it affected me, I’ll never take it again.

I’ve taken up to 2 grams a day of melatonin. I found up to 60mg was good for sleep and past that started working on other things with no side effects. B vitamins like b1 (ttfd and Benfotiamine) fixed the waking up during the night and SAMe fixed the racing mind when my head hit the pillow. Getting a methylation gene test was the best choice I ever made
