During the holidays we buy and cook more food than usual. But automatically that means food waste - because we will not be able to eat all the food and invariably some of it will spoil. Which is a shame, because we have invested money and labor in that food. This video is about not throwing our money and our holiday work in the trash.
Holiday Tip No. 1.
Buy in advance what you need, when you find a good deal - in terms of quality or in terms of price. For example, I have relatives who, during this period, buy a whole pig from the farm, make it in packages, and then sores it in the freezer. This ensures quality meat for months, not just the holidays.
The best way to put meat and meat products in the freezer is to vacuum seal them with the FoodSaver vacuum sealer. You extend its validity 5 times, avoid freezing burns, you can organize them better and save space, and the vacuuming process is very simple.
FoodSaver bags and vacuum rollers are of very good quality, do not contain BPA, can be used in the freezer, in the refrigerator, in the microwave and in sous vide cooking at temperatures up to 75 degrees and can be washed and reused many times. For example, the bags I use for meat, I wash them, keep them separately and reuse them also for meat.
Holiday Tip No. 2:
Are you left with a bunch of sliced cured meats from the appetizer platters? Did you make too many cabbage rolls, or did you have leftover steak from the Christmas dinner? Vacuum seal them with FoodSaver.
The stuffed cabbage freezes perfectly. It will not spread odors in the freezer and their taste will remain intact. Cooked and vacuumed meat increases its validity 5 times, so you can eat it to the last piece, without throwing anything away.
And the sausages and hard cheese will keep vacuumed in the fridge for months, believe me. Put them in slightly larger bags than needed, and when you want to take something out of the bag, cut off the end, take what you need, then reseal. I personally have not thrown away any pieces of cheese or sausage this year.
Holiday tip no. 3:
Do you want to prepare, almandines, eclairs with fondant or fondant candies? It is ideal to prepare the candy fondant needed for these wonders long in advance, because it takes some practice and precision. Find the fondant recipe in the video of the fondant candies.
If you do not dare to prepare fondant yourself, you can buy it. It is available at a great price, around 6-7 lei per kg, only for large boxes of 15 kg.
What to do with 15 kg of fondant? Vacuum seal them with FoodSaver! They will last up to 2 years without any problems, and you can prepare your favorite cakes with crunchy fondant icing, whenever you want.
Guys, this was today's video, I hope it will help you! And don't forget, food costs money, time and effort! Don't throw it in the trash!
I wish you happy holidays!
