I think that the creator of Yugioh is very playful with his art style and occasionally will reinvent how he draws characters and monsters. He doesn’t stick to one consistent model so since Mana is drawn directly by him she has a more flexible cartoonish design. If you look at any of the cards with his signature on them they vary greatly in style.

Might I bring to the attention that it's only the second effect of Faithful Servant that is a HOPT. So that means if you have 3 of them in your hand, you can activate all three of them to recycle your cards like Circle and Eternal Soul. Then you banish one (assuming you have a DM in the grave at the same time you have Circle and Soul) to draw the Circle on top of your deck. Activate Circle to add Eternal Soul to the hand and boom, you have your tri-force with the help of just 2 Faithful Servants in late(r) game.

I pretty sure that your supposed to shuffle before you place a card in your deck on top of your deck in which case activating the 2nd Faithful Servant would shuffle the first card you put on top of your deck back into the deck. Maybe if you chain them it wouldn't be a problem, but I'm really not sure.

agr0nianTV: no, it's just like Plaguespreader Zombie. You place a card on top of your deck and then if you have another one, you place that on top of your deck as well. So now you have two cards from your hand on top of your deck in any order. It's for mechanics like this that made the one spell that's now at one in the banlist. I can't remember the name but it said mill cards from your deck equal the number of cards your opponent controls and then draw a card and if that card you draw is the same card you activated, burn your opponent for 1,000 for each card (if not, then shuffle cards from your grave into the deck). Anyway, since you don't shuffle your deck after placing cards on top of your deck, then this mechanic works so it also works for Faithful Servant. Edit: the card was Slash Draw.

Personally think this card could’ve just been a direct search for stuff kinda like Spellbook of Secrets. Then maybe give us the choice to draw in place of the search. The stacking it still pretty solid with Circle there is a lot of ways to use the 1st effect but that draw effect is probably going net 1-2 cards at most in a standard DM deck.

This plus Magician's Souls does a good job of searching out just about any card you want so that's cool. It'd be nice though if they had a proper fusion card that this could search out that also uses cards in the graveyard as material. This alone would be a one-card Dark Magicians The Ultimate Wizards if that were the case and would lead into a lot more shenanigans if you had the right cards in hand. Instead we get Dark Magic Secrets which is just a worse-searchable basic-ass poly that also acts as a basic-ass ritual spell.

I've been thinking about putting one in my deck to be honest... Right now I'm playing the 1 magician of dark illusion so I can get as much res power as I can (It's pleasantly consistent thanks to faithful servant getting me magician navigation.) but I'd wanna playtest with it by taking out the dark illusion card at some point on dueling nexus. Sounds like a terrible side deck option, you would need to get this in the graveyard somehow if you don't have a legal target (or else you cheatin) and hope that your opponent is playing dark magician cards AND that they have the appropriate cards in the graveyard while taking up side deck space when you could just run upstart goblin.

Its a great card to use during opponents turn to make sure you get a good draw. At most you can then banish to get 2 more draws, (lets face it whose running mahad or mana). Great 1 or 2 of in a dm deck regardless of whether you run dmg, bonds and dark burning magic!

Pretty much whacha said exactly. however this is also as close as eye of timaeus will be able to be dug for it seems. IF you blind circle you can see and STACK the top 3 of your deck then activating this via graveyard will let you draw, usually 1, maybe 2... SO if you WANT the blind dig may reveal eye and you can order it to the top to use this as draw. damn sure would NOT recommend doing it, because this thign sets up circle, and even itself for what it applies to far easier. ANOTHER good dark magician card. keep this shit coming konami. im already running out of space in my test deck. also. wanna do something really silly, swingy and not viable, but good for giggles? stack the deck with this... activate the True Name with a god card in deck.

Not gonna happen unfortunately unless Timaeus gets limited, maybe banned. It's a shame there is no Legendary Dragon searcher (which defeats the purpose of the cards have a clause to count as their nonexistent Legendary Dragon Monster at all times) since the other two (mostly Critias) suck without one while Timaeus has little issue thanks this and other DM support thinning your Deck with searches.

You don’t need to play Mahad to use this card. Since Dark Illusion counts as a dark magician on the field you have the potential to draw six. It’s EXTREMELY unlikely but that would be fun wouldn’t it?

Except that it only count as only 1 draw even if you have the vanilla dm on the field/gy. Because it becomes DM while on the field. While that effect is active, the name is no longer magician of dark illusion.

@@spearsage Maybe I'm misunderstanding it's effect. The way I'm understanding it, if you have two "Dark Magician"s on the field, you can draw two cards. Am I right, or is it "one draw per category fulfilled," like if you have 2 Dark Magicians on the field, you get one draw, if you have 2 Dark Magician and 2 Dark Magician Girl on the field, you get 2 draws etc. etc. What I was thinking is: you have Dark Magician Dragon Knight, which counts as Dark Magician on the field, two Magician of Dark Illusion, which also counts as Dark Magician on the field, and three Dark Magicians, meaning six "Dark Magician" on the field, so six draws. I'm new to Yugioh so I might be just misreading the effect.

@@CaptinHavoc1 it is one draw per category fulfilled. Hence why the video said you can at most draw 4 with this card's effect. (By having *at least 1 each* of Paladium Oracle Mahad, Paladium Oracle Mana, Dark Magician, and Dark Magician Girl on the field or GY. Extra copies with the same name don't count.) As for Magician of Dark Illusion and TDK's case that has them treated as Dark Magician while on the field, they will be counted as extra copies with same name if you have both and the original dark magician on the field or gy. Because despite being different cards, both have their name becomes "dark magician" when that effect is on play.

Sadly he doesn't. His name is treated as Dark Magician while in the graveyard so if you have the OG DM in the grave along with the fusion, you will still only have one "Dark Magician" in the graveyard since they have the same name.

Samurex Atlas: sadly yes. When you have the fusion and DM on the field, you can't use both to go into Saryuja since they have the same name. Specifically since the fusion has the same name, you can't use it for the draw effect, however, you can return it to the extra deck with the first effect of Faithful Servant. But with the second effect, it has to be specifically called "Dark Magician" for it to qualify for the first part of the second effect but has to be alone to qualify for the second part. If you only have the fusion in the grave and no DM (for whatever reason), then you can still draw a card but if you have both DM and the fusion, you can only draw one card since it calls for monsters with different names.

Your oppnent can destroy circle with quick effects like ghost ogre before you resolve the effect. Also, thw top 3 cards of your deck might not always be dark magician cards.

@@TheAlphaMaG only to banish the monsters in grave. Faithful servant banishes from grave first because its a cost to activate it. Only then you can chain to banish the dm's in graveyard. Still a useful counter against stuff like that.

@@TheAlphaMaG sorry. I had the cards mixed up. Last stand only negates the Activation of spells/traps. Circle is a continous spell that has 2 effects. 1st, On Activation, circle looks at top three then adds a card. The 2nd Effect banishes a card on field when a dm is summoned. You can stop the 1st one but not the second. To clarify: A spell card is considered Activated only when it is first played from the hand. Casino games like poker/blackjack, you can only call/raise a bet when the dealer first places their card on the table. Ik its improper since most players blend both the activation of cards and the effect of a card but there is a clear difference between them.
