We made our last trip to Rome and Venice in 2022 when there were still travel restrictions, but no more lockdowns. It was almost totally devoid of tourists everywhere! Hardly anyone at the Vatican, no waiting lines. We were able to take pictures at the Trevi fountain, alone! St Mark's square in Venice totally empty. Sunset at the Rialto bridge it was just us and 2 or 3 couples. All the museums for ourselves. BEST TRIP EVER! Absolutely surreal.

Thank you so much for sharing your memories, it sounds like you had a lovely experience, We felt the same way walking around Rome in 2021, after the restrictions were lifted enjoing the city. The next year will of course be different, but we hope it doesn't put you off coming to Rome again, should it be on the horizon for you. Maybe it will be a good oportunity to discover new areas a bit off the beaten track? Welcome back, whenever it may be :-)

We did a lot of travel during pandemic and since “God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind” we didn’t hesitate to do a lot of travel. It was wonderful !

I’m not worried, I went to Paris last January when they were preparing for the olympics so a little scaffolding never stopped me! I’ve got 4 days booked for mid January 25. No putting the brakes on this.

Agreed, no need to worry! The construction work is also finishing up these days, and scaffolding is coming down and newly restored sights can be enjoyed. We do hope you will have a lovely time here in january, it is indeed a lovely period. Book your tickets and restaurants in advance, to avoid unnecessary queuing 😊

Great video thanks for the info. We were planning to come in February to avoid the peak seasons crowds but now we're not sure if we should put it off until February of 2026. 💁♂️ We do all our traveling off peak seasons. This will be our first time going to Italy.

Hi, and thank you so much for you kind compliment! Whether or not coming to Rome in the coming months is not easy to guess. A lot of the construction works are indeed being finished, for instance is the fountain in front of the Pantheon now unveiled and freshly restaured. There will be crowds the coming year, but february will be off season, or at least as "off" as it will get. The key insight is to book in advance, and if you decide to come in february our best advice is to secure your hotel room as soon as possible, as well as tickets to the sights you want to visit and maybe a transfer from the airport. It might also be nice to plan a few outings a bit outside the historical centre. There are lots of beautiful and interesting places to visit a bit off the beaten track without having to go far. Happy planning & Buon viaggio!

ah glad to know about it after ive already spent 2 grand on flights and hotels : )

We are sure you will have a wonderful stay! 🥰 Having already booked both flight and hotel you have those down, and if you have activities or special restaurants you would like to visit, our advice is to book those ahead as well, so that the increased numbers of visitors doesn’t influence you. Welcome to Rome ❤️
