LSKD TV PRESENTS: DON’T WAIT: THE MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH PROJECT.
Every day in Australia, we lose 9 people to suicide. 75% of those are male. The latest documentary from LSKD titled ‘Don’t Wait’ seeks to change that.
Jordan Kahu, Khan Porter, Matt Dlugos and Heath Thorpe get vulnerable and share their story and mental health journey in this documentary, discussing the struggles of mental health.
This campaign was created to start a conversation. We want to give people the tools they need to check in on themselves, their friends, family, and everyone they hold close.
If this campaign inspires even just one person to speak up… then it’s mission success for us.
It’s okay to be vulnerable.
It’s okay to speak up.
It’s okay to not be okay.
But don’t wait - start those conversations with your loved ones, family, friends… start them now.
Check in on the people in your life - because sometimes you need to be the one to start the conversation.
THE CHAPTERS
The documentary is broken up into 5 distinct chapters, with each chapter addressing a different conversation around men’s mental health.
CHAPTER 1: IDENTITY
The first chapter seeks to educate. It seeks to explain the struggles of mental health to someone who may not fully comprehend the issue. We hear from all four athletes, their experience with mental health struggles - and whilst all stories are different - all are correct.
CHAPTER 2: A CLOSED BOOK
The second chapter digs deeper into the topic, further defining the issue at hand and explaining why men are so often driven to keep their struggles to themselves.
CHATER 3: GRAVITY
The third chapter aims to help the audience understand the gravity of the situation. 9 Australians die every day by suicide - 75% of those suicides are men.
CHAPTER 4: PEACE
This chapter discusses the importance of open conversations, and how seeking help from friends, family or professionals, could save a life.
CHAPTER 5: LESSONS LEARNED
Mental health is a journey - and for most - is a journey that’s never over. This chapter discusses some of our athletes biggest lessons on their journey so far.
