ngl I haven't been blown away by any of his albums yet but he is one of the few artists in the mainstream that I kinda root for because his voice is fun to listen to imo, and I still look forward to future releases because he does have some bangers, esp. Honeymoon and Bus Stop that became two of my most favorite Don Toliver songs

I got into Don off of Heroes and Villains, so I really like him on the kind of spacey but intricate beats that Metro made on that album. I was disappointed by how one note a lot of the instrumentals in LOAD were in comparison, so this album low key gave me what I like from Don. It's no masterpiece, but the vibes are definitely there.

Cool review, Anthony. I can also say that it is very fair, this was a 16 - or 17-track album, and I liked 6 of them. That is the definition of mid to me, but those 6 tracks did hit, so I can't complain. One thing we don't have in common, though, is that I actually like the song "Leave the Club." I think glorilla is kinda savage on it. In my opinion, I don't really like that song with future and beiber on it. I think future's verse is kinda werid, and I haven't been a fan of Bieber's singing for a couple of years at this point.

@@SkoolieBoyQue My introduction to Don Toliver was admittedly “No Idea” then I didn’t listen to him again until “Best You Had” “DrugsHellaMelodies”, and “XSCAPE” so I’m not a huge fan, I just know he’s someone to give a listen when he drops. Cinderella was a cool cadence in the hook but I never felt the urge to save it or play it again after the initial album play through. I think he’s a great artist but I’m picky when it comes to him specifically. What all did you like off of Donny Womack or Heaven/Hell?

At work, ridin' in the car... (I might be though. 🤔) No Idea and maybe a few other songs on Heaven or Hell were cool to me. Life of A Don was the GAME CHANGER!!! I fucking love that album with all my heart. 😅😏 I don't usually follow some artist after they go different directions, good example would be after Kid Cudi went in to rehab or whatever and stop making depressing songs like he did for Man on The Moon 2. Same with Kanye.

I think a lot of the points on here are pretty valid being a long time Don fan, I think some of the vocal effects he uses are over used and can kinda fall short in some categories. I also think he wanted to be diverse and succeeded on that during this track with the overall vibe, trying out different flows, and having unorthodox features. Granted Anthony is entitled to his own opinion which I respect but if your comparing it to something new like Yeat’s recent album it just shits all over it and was harshly rated lol.

I love this album. I really don't understand some of anthonys criticisms here. But to each their own i guess. But this is definitely one of my most listened to albums this year, the production throughout is so solid, and Don's vocals are great. I would say this is his best, most well composed, album to date. The transitions between tracks, the sound of this album is extremely consistent, with the exception of the kali uchis song

Also I'm confused at to why because of the fact "Leave the club" talks about the club that makes it a song that's meant to be played at the club? Kind of a ridiculous criticism. The production on that track is incredible. Its not going to go into anyone's dj set, but that doesn't make it a bad song. I'd put it at top 3 on the album.

This album was extremely long. He's making music for "the club" so maybe he and his producers are making a lot of tracks in order for some of them to land in "the club". The other problem is that it sounds too much like Rodeo but to me it doesn't have the consistency in the production side to pull it off. If much of the with was cut from the album, still it would have been maybe a solid 6 to me.
