My mom has every single Don Williams album he ever put out. Even the international releases. She would sew and listen to him on her vinyls late into the evening. She listened so much, she wore them out. One of her friends transferred them to digital files. He tried to master out the imperfections, but you can still hear some of the crackle and pops. Listening to it makes me feel young again.

In Africa, Don Williams is the biggest country artist ever, ok, in Zimbabwe, Don Williams was bigger than Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton combined. When he held his shows, the country stood still, police escorts and all the kitchen toys. Oh we loved and sang along to every song that he sang, he was shocked by how much we loved and knew his music. Obviously, like all his shows, he didn't like requests, but, this was Africa, the pestered for My best friend

There’s a video here on KZbin of his trip to Zimbabwe. Absolutely warmed my heart seeing all the fans enjoying his music. And of course singing along to My Best Friend! I love knowing how popular Don Williams is around the world. Even my friends who don’t like country music end up liking him, because he’s just that good 😃
