We never saw him as charismatic, alluring or validating. He was the exact opposite. Very many people are under stress in our society. Economic stress, health stress, relationship stresses and lack of community with reliable, safe, face to face interactions are just a few of the many stressors that people deal with daily. In times of stress people look for change but not necessarily change that will actually address what seem like intractible overwhelming problems. We deny our problems or blame ourselves. A big, strong, very definite person attracts people who have little ability to effect change in their lives on their own. Delegating our hopes to a bigger than life figure who expresses the violence that most of us repress is one way that people cope when the situation in which live is static and unsatisfactory. "He's going to fix it." Someone who promises to fix your problem, regardless of his actual ability to do so, is seductive. We want to believe lies. Those lies are tailored to appeal to specific demographic groups. We permit ourselves slack in our thinking and we attribute strength to a leader when we are under stress. Trump is obviously sick. But so is our society and we cannot cope with jobs that overwhelm us, too little time to relax and recover, a worldwide pandemic and the economic problems that caused, and little social interaction and validation are all too overwhelming. Trump is an easy figure to "believe" in. Belief is very often not logical. That is why there is a worldwide upsurge in strongman leaders. Our society is too complex and overwhelming and life seems very unsure. In times like these messianic figures, authoritarian leaders and miraculous solutions are easy ways to cope with life situations that are unsatisfactory.

Yes. This video should be viewed by every adult in the USA to understand how Psychiatry can be used and abused to persecute and undermine people they dislike by labeling them with psychiatric diagnoses. The Russians are well known for doing this with political opponents and individuals who oppose the leadership of this country, resulting in these unfortunate victims being forceably placed against their will in psychiatric hospitals. In a similar manner, the Forensic Psychiatrist in this video is abusing her title and clinical skills to undermine and negate Trump for political reasons, regardless of her claims that she is doing so objectively, and not for political purposes. The danger of her actions is that if they are generalized, and permitted to be used by mental health professionals, then ANYONE, not only Trump or political figures, can be labeled with a psychiatric disorder if the mental health professional dislikes that individual, disagrees with their political perspective or for any other personal reason.

No one wants to address the elephant in the room but I have never seen more obvious signs in my life. Bandy is serving the purpose that a young journalist named Konrad Heiden did 100 years ago. He wrote for several newspapers about the rise of National Socialism and Hitler in Germany. He was able to publish a book on Hitler … Originally Birth of the Third Reich in 1934. Unfortunate it didn’t sell well bcz of the chaos that was coming. Just remember last year on Nov 9 was the 100th anniversary of the Beer Hall Putsch and 85th anniversary of Kristallnacht (yes, same day). You might call them the Jan 6th of the times. A 💯 years ago the current news of the day was Hitler’s trial for the Putsch. He was lucky and only sentenced to 5yrs for high treason but it could have been death. As passionate as he was about his political views, he put on quite a convincing oratory at several occasions during his trial. Once imprisoned he went about dictating the beginning of Mein Kampf. He was released in Dec 1924 after only 9 months. Heiden followed AH through the years until he became chancellor. Around 1934-5 Heiden had to leave Germany bcz of his part Jewish heritage. He eventually made it to USA and was able to publish Der Fuhrer in 1944. It’s a comprehensive look at how Hitler became who he was. Heiden was unfortunate in that he tried to make a clear case of who AH was and the plans he had to return Germany to the greatness it so deserved. By the time he was save the world had fallen apart in WW2. There is something to be learned from this. When someone stands up to make a point about the importance of seeing a character for who they really are, people should damn well pay attention to what they are saying. Reliving history is not a good idea. By the way… let’s not compare AH to DJT. AH was a passionately driven man who was quite capable of writing and producing incredibly lengthy speeches on his convictions for his view of the fatherland. He would practice for hours in front of mirrors his delivery of these speeches. Many are recorded and one does not have to watch very long to understand his ability to move a crowd of thousands. DJT is a bumbling nincompoop of a narcissistic person who just luvs to hear himself speak. Anyone following his drivel leaves most of the rest of the country dumbfounded at his ignorance of just about everything. So, I think paying attention to Bandy is a good idea bcz there is still much to unpack about DJT in the future.
