Honestly, I think Death's lines here are one of, if not the best explanation of that section of the play that I've ever seen. It gets the point across really well, in a way that the most willfully ignorant person can't avoid. I know too many people IRL who, if they saw Tiny Tim's story play out IRL, would blame it on the parents for not working harder, rather than Scrooge for not paying his employee better than the market rate.
