Saying that everyone is rich and making lots of money is a wild take Kevin. On average, things like groceries that cost $100 in 2020 cost $120 now, up 17%. Entry level wages in that time are essentially flat. Housing costs are up over 35% in that time. The party that is in control when you are working the same or more and able to afford less will forever be an unpopular choice.
@Runboyrun8915 күн бұрын
That’s a bit of a misrepresentation of the convo. What was said was that the data shows that inflation is way down and that the U.S. is doing better than most large countries. The contention was that they needed to be more overt in that in defending themselves…..hence his comment. He followed that up talking about the cost of living etc and how maybe that wouldn’t work. It was more a commentary on how they should have campaigned.
@zachalbert43015 күн бұрын
@@Runboyrun89 My point is that campaigning with that message would have a very low probability of success when it doesn't feel true to the majority of the country. I agree that their messaging was awful from the Harris campaign, but I don't think that adjusting the messaging would have motivated people more than their bank accounts did. Inflation is close to normal again, but the price spikes in the last 4+ years are now the baseline for the prior year comparisons those figures are based on. In my opinion, it was a losing argument no matter how they spun it.
@Runboyrun8915 күн бұрын
@ yeah it is tricky for sure. I just think they were spitballing around on the issues. One other thing said was Trump could also be apportioned blame for inflation as he pumped so much wasted money into the system during Covid..also difficult.

KFC also was clowning on Trump for saying 2020 was stolen but being quiet about this year's results being rigged, completely ignoring the fact that Trump got basically the same amount of votes as last time but Harris got 13 million fewer than Biden, and if you look at the history of democrat candidates, Obama got 69m & 66m, Hilary got 65m, Biden got 81m and Harris got 68m. “New York and Alabama shouldn’t be the same country” that’s basically what overturning roe v wade is doing. Each state has democratic processes to vote on how they want to handle it now. Just like Western European countries. If Karen from NYC has a problem, her biggest complaint should go to Nancy in Alabama who votes against it, not trump who just put a judge into power that aligned with his party, like every other president has always done.

Maybe you don’t see it because NYC is always expensive, but normal people can’t afford to live anymore. The cost of a house, apartment, and everyday essentials is so high that there’s nothing left but the credit card. Insurance rates, car payments, everything is draining people. You won’t feel these pains if you make a high salary as barstool creators, but they are there. You need to find out about the average experience before speaking your opinion as a blanket statement. Inflation is near (hopefully) stable because it has finally come down to normal levels after being higher than normal for a few years. A 2.4% means cost of goods is still increasing. Basic math comprehension understands that inflation being a positive number means prices are still climbing. Inflation coming down just means costs are (still) increasing but at a slower rate. People are unhappy that inflation was allowed to rage for a long as it was and now it’s so hard to undo that change. Lowering inflation to a normal rate is not how you bring the costs of most goods down. And almost every commentary from Dem candidates discussing inflation refused to understand this simple formula.

If you brag about how stocks have never been higher and your average voter is not seeing the benefits of it, they are not going to be happy to year that. But he is right about inflation, it is decreasing towards normal levels.
