The film is a total success. Beautifully directed by John Stahl and filmed by Leon Shamoy. Actually one of the most beautiful color films ever. All the acting is superb Of special note is the lake scene with Darryl Hickman. His performance here is amazing and startlingly realistic. No wonder. Stahl called for take after take after take and it nearly killed him in the end. The film is the strongest against the idea that a noir must be in black and white. REALLY A MUST SEE!

I saw this recently for the first time. It wasn't my fav, as I thought they could have better defined and demonstrated Gene's character regarding her obsessive personality, but she acted the part well, in my opinion. Gorgeous as ever.
