The family never liked OP. I learned that the hard way, best decision of my life. They (low and no contact relatives) all treat each other horribly and don’t have any support bc you can’t be supported by a thorn bush of a personality. Best decision of my life was to move on.

OP NTA. I love the fact that you made them pay for their betrayal. That’s one thing a sister should never do. She is beyond cruel. I like your attitude. With time your pain will lessen. But cutting ties with them is beneficial to your mental health. I can’t believe your parents sided with her. The best revenge is to have a fantastic life. Full of love and happiness. Take good care of yourself. 🎉 stay close with your grandma and her friends. You will learn a lot from them.

As for the family: The MC is doing well for herself and she has been able to recover even though not 100% but she is able to function enough to live her life. The sister Cindy, she ended up going back to drinking and partying again and once again she went back to square one and her mother decided to donate her kidney and then they called the MC asking for money but then OP snapped and threatened to report them to the police but they were begging and pleading as they have to pay the medical bills but then OP refused and told them that they should have kept Cindy in control. Cindy was eventually kicked out of the house and now is living on the streets and as for the parents, they sold their house to pay for their medical debt and now are working part time and living in an old rundown apartment. One time OP saw Cindy sitting in front of a store asking for change and she recognized the OP. Cindy wanted her to help her and let her stay at Op's place but OP refused and told her to never come near her again and called her 'an ungrateful b---'. Cindy tried to apologize and begged but then OP threatened to get the police involved but then she tried to play the family card and was telling her sob stories and all but OP did not care and reminded her of everything and kept calling her an 'ungrateful b---'. Cindy tried making a scene but then people recognized her and called her the same name. Cindy gave up and backed away crying while people are glaring at her. Some people even recorded her on social media and now no one gives her money. Any money she gets goes to alcohol. The parents are getting scolded constantly by the supervisors and are always worn out, they ages rapidly because of the stress. They saw the OP one time and once again begged for another chance but then she took out a pepper spray and sprayed their eyes and left.

Hurray for granny. Granny’s the goat. It’s just incredible how some families totally neglect the wellbeing and happiness of one child in favour of another. That spoiled child grows up with zero empathy, compassion or common sense and the parents fly with that by making the illogical logical. I’m glad op’s living with granny, the benefits far outweigh any inconvenience.

While I understand Cindy's feelings at the beginning, her seeing OP's fiancé was just... Evil. Sure, OP may have been prettier, but she never wiped it in Cindy's face. I'm actually surprised that Cindy is still alive after being told not to drink because of her condition, and then after she had too many, surprise surprise, she needed a transplant. I wouldn't have blamed OP for saying "no", since Cindy was warned repeatedly not to drink, yet she continued to do so, and Cindy hated OP for no reason. For OP's parents... Idk what reaction you were expecting from OP. Did you just forget that she saved Cindy at the cost of having been bedridden for TWO YEARS!? Who WOULDN'T be upset after someone whose life they literally saved betrayed them in such a way? And now you'll probably be written out of grandma's will, and considering she's a lawyer pushing into her 70's, I would imagine she has quite a decent chunk of cash to pass on. Lawyers pay VERY well. And no, you can't use Cindy as a crutch. Cindy is a separate person from you. With Cindy... She doesn't know how to appreciate someone's actions or to learn from her mistakes. The first "upcoming event" should've made her think "maybe drinking isn't such a good idea", but continued to do it despite repeated warnings. Cindy insulted the person who saved her. Of COURSE she got sued. I also feel bad for the grandma. Imagine raising your kids, and then when you're nearing retirement, you find out they supported THIS to your granddaughter. I completely understand her reaction. This situation was just absolutely disgusting...

Never donated kidney or body parts to a family member. I also know of person who donated their kidney to their brother and his brother made a full recovery only to do the same thing he did before drugs and alcohol causing that kidney to go bad. While my classmate got sick and passed away from infections because they botched the surgery.

If there's one thing I've learned from listening to these reddit stories, it's that you never give an organ to an entitled family member. Most of the time they've CHOSEN to destroy their own bodies anyway and are undeserving of a highly coveted replacement. Not when there are people out there that need transplants through no fault of their own. People are so selfish that it's amazing.

Why didn't one of the parents donate a kidney? Why does it have to be someone with their whole life ahead of them? Her quality of life was diminished and she significantly cut off a portion of her lifespan in favor of slightly extending her sister's lifespan. An ungrateful conniving sister at that!

The parents must be horrible human beings who blatantly favored the one daughter over OP… since they were married civilly I hope OP. Hanged alimony and compensation from the husband, sister and even the parents for their cruelty. As a parent of 2 girls, I cannot imagine favoring one who morally and ethically wronged her sister. It would have meant our teachings were not absorbed by the evil one.
