If you are naturally flexible you can get splits in about 5-6 months but if you are INFLEXIBLE it can take more than 1.5 year and you gotta accept that. I was STONE ROCK 6 months ago and now my PIKE POSITION IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE but BOX SPLIT IS STILL RUBBISH but Im not discouraged. Eventually I will achive split. Stay strong!

Stop telling other people how they are. You need to accept that you are how you are and only you are that way. Let other people figure themselves out. You don't need to tell anyone who they are. Some people will push themselves harder and endure more pain than others. Some people will do splits in 30 days. Some people will never get splits. Don't force your perception of yourself onto other people.

Hey Donovan! Ouch, I made it through the routine with one break. It’s really nice for someone to really explain the stretches and talk about the different types. So often when I watch stretching routines it is almost all if not all static stretches. The dynamic stretches, the front splits in particular, was really helpful. For one of the pulses I think I may have been my lowest yet. So thank you for explaining dynamic stretches. This is probably one of the longest comments I have ever written, but you make it more than worth it.

I just turned 49. Been doing Hapkido for over 2 years. I'm red belt, and black belt testing next month. I've always wanted to get more flexible and work on my kicks (chagi's) better. Hapkido has the same basic kicks as TKD, but different application (self-defense). I really need more stretching, and to work on my kicking control, balance & power. Thanks go out to you and your channel! You will be my new auxiliary instructor and complement to the arts. Thank you for your awesome & inspiring channel and instruction.

Something I've started recently is whilst in front split, i lean my body to the side/forward like a middle split-ish transition to put more stretch on the adductor longus muscle, finding it quite effective for honing in on those specific stretching points. Getting quite close on my sitting straddle.

Excellent video. Another home run for Donavan. This is why number four of the ten points of training is "Tensing and Stretching the body." Relaxing alone will not work. And, looseness and flexibility are two different things. The frontal or gymnastic splits is more important as far as kicking goes than Chinese splits.

All the splits in 5 months ! wow! that is still very fast! I really like the approach, treating splits like any other exercise, doing it in reps and sets, that would actually! help and teach the nervous system, and the muscle to get into the split. the last hip mobility drill is also very good, an advanced version of 90 90. well done!

Thank you so much for this video! Have seen a lot of 'get your splits quick' videos but this had some really excellent stretches - and you can follow along, a big bonus. Re what would make a stretching/kicking program worth it for me: follow along sessions, definitely, but for every aspect of flexibility that you need for your kicks. So stretching / strengthening sessions for leg holds, but also for psoas/hip flexor flexibility, for toe/foot flexibility and control, for ankle control / strengthening etc - for areas which are absolutely crucial for healthy technique but are often left out in a lot of videos. I also think that if it's a program that people will be repeating videos in, having some options of commentary on or off would be useful - so some videos with detailed explanations for first time viewers, and then some with no sound or music for repeat viewers, just noises to prompt you to move to the next exercise, so that people can put their own music over the top and just go go go. A few different daily follow along options under a weekly plan or such would be great too - as in alternating videos to shake things up a bit. If you do decide to make this program that would be absolutely amazing!! You'd have a lot of very keen beans I'm sure :)

Unfortunately too many people do ask that question and ill never understand why because...1...isn't it obvious and 2...who cares?

In middle school, I was advised by a classmate that it's best to stretch before a shower to get splits quicker. Is there any truth to that?

I am a "relatively" flexible guy in his early 40's. How many times per week would you recommend I do this routine? I was thinking 3 to 4 with a rest day in between but would be interested in your thoughts, or anyone's thoughts for that matter. Thanks! Great vid!

I think that would be good... I started every second day and the mover to two rest days a week amd now I do 3 times a week hard streching, 3 times light streching and one rest day...:)

The important thing is to listen to your body. If it feels sore, rest. If it feels fine, you can do it daily. I worked up to being able to do it every day but it takes time! :)
