It's really nice to see a slow-life or simple-life KZbin channel created by a Catholic. All Catholics are called to live a life of simplicity, but too many of us have forgotten this and have gotten caught up in worldly things. Your channel is truly refreshing.

I am grateful and honored to have had the opportunity to know a little of you. You are a delight and a beautiful soul. I hope your "wink wink" is fruitful and I look forward to the possibility. I was touched to tears by the bit at the end. Being a very empathic person, I completely related to the experience the young lady was expressing. I've been in that space many times. It always brings tears. Safe journeys and I hope your garden fares well, also.

Your videos have meant so much to me. Thankfully, Kirsten introduced you to the world, and Martjin expanded upon that. Have thoroughly enjoyed your ebook, video series, Q&A's, DIY projects, the religious and spiritual reflections, and your humor. I really hope your superiors understand how much you mean to all of us in your virtual community and how much the world needs and benefits from your work. We'll be eagerly waiting here for any new videos, books, or chicken updates you may produce as time permits. If your visit to the US also includes a speaking engagement, please post ticket information! Thank you for the love, enlightenment, and calming nature you bring to this chaotic world!!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me appreciate more in my life, and to understand so much more about myself (I hope that doesn’t make me sound crazy) .. I’m sure you know what I mean! I shall miss your weekly videos so much, but wish you well in everything you do. All being well we shall still catch a glimpse of you in Martijn’s episodes from time to time .. although I realize of course you have a really hectic schedule this year. Please take care, and thank you again ❤️

I have come to deeply appreciate your reflections. Those that followed the 12-month journal videos (which I have listened to more than once) and those contained in these two Q&A videos. Marietta's story of her experience was wonderful and affected me more than I would have expected. I will look at beautiful things, especially those in nature, differently than I did before. As I and many others struggle with questions of faith and happenings in the world we search for things that might offer comfort or other ways of looking at the same thing. Struggling with faith questions requires one to learn and listen to others. You have provided that for me. I am grateful. Paul

Thank you from my heart for this beautiful series of vlogs. I have laughed, smiled, and felt true joy. I am an accidental gardener, and a bee keeper. Being in nature is always where i feel closest to God. Your thoughts have encouraged me to see the church differently and I am looking forward to learning more. Wishing you all the best ahead. I will keep watching for (hopefully) some more content in the future .

Irissaunders, I too have treasured these visits with Fr. Johannes. I am glad you are encouraged to "see the church differently," because I love the church very much and always have from the cradle, even though in this moment in history she is heavily wounded in the ongoing assault from hell--which shall not prevail. The Church is 2000 years old, the immaculate, beautiful and mystical Bride of Christ, and I am one with the Bridegroom in Her. Fr. Johannes shows us the real face of that Bride of Christ. I wish you a deep Holy Week and a graceful Easter.

I remember seeing a list of proof's for God's existence once that had a detailed summary of each proof. It also included this one with its pithy summary, "Proof from the existence of beauty. You either get this one or you don't." Marietta is clearly someone who "gets" this proof. Thank you for sharing her words. Such beauty was an important part in my own conversion to Catholicism.

The bump on your wrist, the ganglion cyst, is also colloquially called a Bible cyst. People used to hit them with a heavy Bible to rupture them. I had one a while back and was set to have it removed, but I slipped on some ice, landed on my wrist and it ruptured right there...never to return since. Saved me a surgery and quite a bit of money.

I will dearly miss your voice and words. Although I am not jumping into Catholicism, you have awakened a dialog within me about the nature of God. Not being raised Catholic, I honestly don’t understand many of the words and concepts you present but your words on the nature of God rings dear to my heart. I am a scientist/ maybe even atheist ( not convinced I even understand what that is in your mind) since you use the term with some disdain. I am, like your brother, a doctor. I am a gardener and a hiker and many things that you proclaim and love your voice and your more religious and more importantly spiritual words and thoughts. Please take a break and please return with more thoughts when you are rested. When you visit the US, you are kindly invited to my home and garden and spare room ( if needed).

Father Johannes you touched upon three aspects of events in my life during this episode, one being Dachau where my in-laws were sent to toil as teenagers and experiencing unmentionable atrocities. My in-Laws with another couple, who also met in the camp married and immigrated to the US. Another was from your God daughter who brought tears to my eyes with her rapt explanation of what she experienced in the beauty of God’s creation and the third being, as your God daughter explained about saying Grace, as I sit with my children and grandchildren each week, at the dinner table, giving God thanks, as the children take turns in saying Grace, for the food we are about to eat. It is with sincere thanks, gratitude and your calming insights for extending a small part of your life with me. Prayers and blessings to you. God Bless you this Easter Season and always 🙏📿🙏

A hesychast is one who pursues hesychia, inner stillness or silence of the heart, in particular through the use of the Jesus Prayer. This is a short invocation, constantly repeated, usually in the form "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me. Through inner attentiveness and the repetition of this prayer, sometimes accompanied by a physical technique involving the control of the breathing, the hesychasts of Mount Athos believed that they attained a vision of divine light and so union with God. (The Oxford Illustrated History of Christianity, John McManners, pp 148)
