This was the first time we got "dark" Seventeen. For YEARS Carats have been wishing for Seventeen to do a darker concept and they DELIVERED. They performed it for the first time at an award show and it was such an explosive shocking stage to see. Definitely on of my favorite performances of Seventeen.

This might just be me but I've always felt like Jeonghan has a certain *something* when it comes to head/neck/hand choreography. He's not necessarily the best dancer in the group but when it comes to detail work like that he always seems that little bit more expressive than everyone else, which is why he ends up front and center for that kind of stuff quite often. (see also: Don't wanna Cry, Flower, Fear)

Thank you for saying your honest thoughts throughout the reaction! I appreciate it because it adds more weight to the praises you give svt! Carats are confident in the skills and talents of svt because they really are that good 🤷♀️ So please continue to share your thoughts with us The Korean title of Getting Closer (숨이 차) actually translates to the feeling of being breathless. That's why there are parts of the choreo where the members exaggerate the movement of breathing heavily.

one thing i notice on svt formations is that even though it seems that it looks like a weird formation (but it's not ㅋㅋ) you will always see every one of them like literally, no matter how far or close the formation is, they make sure that the 13 of them are all visible im every frame. idunno if it's just me or not but it is not hard for me to point out who are the members dancing at the back even if it's far hehe. Finally had time to watch this video ! I think someone else said it but the korean title for Getting Closer means "breathless" and the whole song and choreography is supposed to give this feeling of breathlessness and relentlessness, something slightly dangerous as well. This was choreographed by Hoshi with the Look crew again, they worked with them a lot in 2018 cause Choi Young Joon (Hoshi's usual collaborator) was busy mentoring on Produce 101. For those formations in the 2nd verse, I'm pretty sure they're angled to the side instead of to the front, hence the "asymmetry". For example, the point of the formation in the chorus is Mingyu on the far right in the back, but since it's angled, it puts Seungkwan/Woozi at the the center from the front pov. I think it just adds to the "off-kilter" feel of the song. Also yes, Woozi loves all black outfits, that + slippers are like his default fits lol.

Perfect Symmetry or Evenness is not applicable to 13 members as it's an odd number hahahaha. They might have done 3+3+3+3+1 (solo center) or 4+4+4+1 a number of times but that can't be the formation forever, right? SVT's perfect blockings plus clean execution make people believe they're always symmetrical. They do not do weird formations because EVERY MOVE, BLOCKING, TURN, GLIDE, or GESTURE has a purpose in a Seventeen choreo. I guess the term to use rather than weird is "balanced" or "abstract" lol.
@DonKawaii13 жыл бұрын
Yep! And saying "weird" was more in the context of curiousity, so I hope you understand that. Also right on that they can't always have the same formations all time, I've mentioned earlier to some others that symmetry isn't always the way to deliver!

@choicoups35933 жыл бұрын
What could they have done during the dance break? I'm honestly asking because when you said "knowing SEVENTEEN and being who they are, they could do better than that", were you already thinking of moves in your head that ACTUALLY FIT the SVT style? Are you thinking of gymnastics style tumblings or maybe breakdances like Quest Crew? Because they're not like that. So hope you clarify because there are other kpop groups who probably do those stuff already but that is not SVT. At least, not for now.
@DonKawaii13 жыл бұрын
Tumblings or bboying? Hell no, that's even more gimmicky lol. What I mean is that, for an "electronic dance break", it's almost inevitable that dancers will gravitate to move a certain way: sharp movement, explosiveness, roll-offs, etc. (like what SVT has done here). Again, I just see this same pattern with 99% of boy groups. Me personally, I would've hoped for them to tackle that differently, like how they've always tried showing new things that haven't been done before in K-Pop. Subtleties, tastefulness, or a hint of context beyond movement, is what I've always liked about SVT. Hope that makes sense.

It's not a title track but i think this song being a title track material shows that they put the same amount of effort and hard work into all of their songs whether it be a title or bside .So, when you listen to one of their albums, you'll see almost every song has the potential to be the title track. I don't know about you but i feel kinda dissatisfied when i listen to an album and the tt stands out and the others are not that interesting but Seventeen can't relate to that as there are so many songs that are bsides that got everyone wondering as to how are they not title tracks
