I got a copy of Donkey Kong 64 not too long ago and I’m super close to getting to Fungi Forest because I’m currently finishing up Gloomy Galleon, I think my friends will like it but they can’t play because at the time I’m writing this, COVID-19 is still up and running around locking people in their homes. So, I don’t know who they will play it unless either a Nintendo 64 appears on their front step or get it on Wii U as a virtual console.

Note: the reason lanky only has 3 bananas instead of 4 is because for one of them he has to race the bunny using the speedy handstand, which you unlock later in the game.

Due to the quarantine I have blown the dust off of my N64 purchased in 1999 (still works!) and restart this entire game. My game 1 said that I spent 55 hours playing this game. These walkthroughs have been amazing! Surprised how much I remembered but I also forgot so much more!

To be fair, Chunky Kong’s unique ability to grow huge was at least utilized in this fight, unlike most other boss battles which can be won by any Kong able to throw barrels or drive a boat, making the requirements arbitrary. Speaking of Army Dillo and Dogadon coming back for a rematch, it reminds me a little bit of certain boss fights in the Donkey Kong Country games. Sometimes, the first/second bosses may be very simplistic to act as training wheels for the player, then get their proper due in a later rematch, when they are upgraded with unique gimmicks and more challenging like the others (such as Very/Really Gnawty, the Master Neckies, Krow in regular/ghost form, and Mugly/Thugly). (and Hi from five years later! 😂)

I remember playing this when I was 14 and I couldn't put my finger on it at the time, but I felt this level seemed somewhat out of place in this game. I didn't think it was a bad level. In fact, it's one of my favorites. It just seems like it should have been in another game. Well, just recently, I found out my feelings were correct. This level was a level that was cut from Banjo-Kazooie due to time constraints during the game's development. Obviously, it was altered for this game but I can totally see it. This level looks and sounds like it should have been in a Banjo game.

You didn't have to charge up your punches with Chunky in the 5th boss battle, TanderXS. Just punch him normally he'll go down a little more quickly and in fewer rounds. I'm speaking from my experience fighting this boss, I hit the magma and lost quite a few times while fighting with Chunky against this boss.

I've gotta say: You know how to play this game. You've got what it takes to finish the game and collect every items. But you are a little impatient, i can tell because you surely take your time when shooting aerial enemies and ballons. Just a tip: if you are making a walkthrough make some plans before playing because you keep forgeting some items locations. Anyway, good walkthrough! DK 64 is one of my childhood games that i love!

"After killing all these things a seed appears..." 1:10:05: Fun fact: there's a DK dirt clod there, notable for the fact that it somehow "went hidden for roughly 20 years" until some guy "found" it. But I could tell there was something there: Diddy appeared to be walking up a small hill in the grass.

please help: chunky @ 49:00 I regarding the oil barrels and his banana, I made the mistake of starting the conveyer belt without putting the barrels first . So now I've gotten dks banana but can not stop the belt so that I can get chunkys. any idea what u should do?

Don't worry 'bout that. I did it that way just to save time. Just grab the oil barrels and put them there the same way I did. Just be careful not to be blown away with the explosions!

mmm, odd. When I did it the first time, I did it after turning on the belt. Try this. If I remember correctly there should be two barrels in the same room and the third one somewhere else. In that case try to bring first the third one, put it on the belt and then do the same with the other two. As they explode the lights should turn on. They don't have to explode all at the same time, so you can do it one at a time. Hope that helps!

Yep I think so too. But you can still find some new games out there that you can call "complete". It can be a bit hard though some times.

Ah, that. Well, there is a stub you can get into as Tiny using her barrel. Once you're there you have to defeat a few purple crocs. That will give you a Banana but also a seed. I remember now that when I recorded this, I accidentally defeated the last croc while standing where the seed appears, so I couldn't show it (you'll see some sparks coming out from Tiny because of her taking it as soon as it appears). Once you have it, you can plant it with any kong just passing through there. But that Banana is for Tiny. Check min 39:00 for details. Hope that helps!

7:30. I have a huge problem / glitch with this, if anyone can help me out. I used all the Kongs to shoot those switches and then the cannons appeared. I unexpectedly had to leave so I saved and quit the game. Then, when I came back to play the next day I went back to this building and slammed the blue DK switch to make the 25 second timer appear to try and get this banana, but all the cannons were gone, and all of the switches on the wall were pressed in, so they can't be shot again. Anyone else ever experience this? If so, is it possible to overcome it, or did I just screw myself out of finishing the game 100%? I tried leaving the building and racing to the top using the #5 warp pad outside, but it doesn't work because the timer just disappears.

Sorry, pal. I think you've got a bug there (a glitch is somehow usable/exploitable). Don't mention it. I know it's lame but if that's a bug and there's no fix for it, you're left with no choice but to start over and make sure you enable the cannons AND grab the banana without quitting or even exiting the area this time. The only "vital" use of those cannons is to get that banana. After that they are just a shortcut to the top.

I may also add that this player was not patient at all whatsoever!!!! When I played this game myself, I got every item in each level, starting with donkey kong, then diddy, Tiny, lanky, and lastly chunky. Exactly in that order. This is still one my favorite games from the get go!!!!😁😤

Well, the only thing I can think of is that maybe the game didn't save that part or item. Get back and check the cave again. Maybe is still there. I even remember planting the seed with a different kong than Tiny once (although I had to switch back to her to get the Banana). Or maybe you're using an Emulator. In that case try with another. "Expansion Pak" games can be a bit troublesome to emulate properly. Hope that helps!
