Who’s your favorite Donkey Kong Country series’ baddie and who’s your favorite boss?
@dirediredocs6 жыл бұрын
The best boss has to be Kaptain K. Rool from the end of DKC2. The challenge of dodging all of those projectiles he sends your way just gives off a feeling of true mastery of the game. Everytime I fight that boss, I can't help but feel a sense of growth and closure over my journey through the game, which is what any great final boss should do.

Excluding the end boss (too easy, Kaptain K. Rool is hecking amazing)... Kaboing (as well as his different iterations) and Kudgel from DKC2. I've always had a thing for jumping baddos and boss monsters. Foes that make use of the environment and/or force me to utilize the environment more tend to earn the top spot on my favorite baddo list.

ikr? In DKC 1, the first boss is the first enemy, only larger. The second boss is the hawk enemy, only larger. The third boss is the bee on it's most standard color, yellow, only larger. The fourth boss is the same as the first boss, only on a different color. The same can be said for the sixth boss. And of course, the most original of them all, boss #5: a giant version of that black bucket who throws other regular enemies at us.
@billgateskilledmyuncle234 жыл бұрын
Honestly DKC1 is too short and easy, but my guess is, the designers knew it would be worlds ahead all other SNES games and wanted to get it out to the public, then used the sequels to build up the challenges.
@ZioBlader6 жыл бұрын
Not sure what makes you think DKC3-bosses have very basic designs, especially compared to 1 and 2. DKC1 had palette-swap-bosses, a giant version of regular bee-enemy, an oil drum... And DKC2's bosses continued the same trend (Krow appears technically twice, and Kudgel is literally a clone of Klubba) even though boss-stages were a little more memorable and imaginative overall. But one of the bosses was... a sword. And another was... yet another bee. DKC3's boss designs were a bit random and sometimes bizarre (although there's a story-explanation for all the mutated enemies, just like DKC2 had a thing for pirate- and ghost-themed enemies/bosses) but at least all of them were unique this time.
@DrPepperFields6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree! DKC3 has the better bosses designs of the trilogy. I was reading the comments looking for someone who noted that.

I agree, if anything DKC2 Bosses were a downgrade from 1 since almost all of them were just bigger sprites of common enemies or clones. 2 was still my favorite of the series and it's not like the bosses were terrible, but 3 had its uniqueness - like an actual "Boss" to a world, it was definitely an improvement.

Shouldn't be judged without giving it a try. I personally didn't want to get deep into at first too, primarily because of Kiddy, and the fact that not Donkey, nor even Diddy, were playable this time around. Back when I got into the trilogy as a kid, I got REALLY attached to Donkey and Diddy, especially Donkey. I didn't get to like DKC2 or DKC3 that much due to the fact that Donkey wasn't playable, and it was even worse when it came to DKC3, but when I tried them out, they surpassed DKC1 in my list, even DKC3 itself. I LOVE this game, nearly as much as DKC2. It's generally not as challenging as DKC2, but still another masterpiece that no DKC fan should miss out.

One thing you didn't mention that I absolutely loved about this game: hidden stuff was everywhere. If you ever thought to yourself, "I wonder what's back in this corner," the development team had crammed at least some invisible banana bunches in every level. This incentivized exploration. Even if you didn't find the B Barrel you were looking for, you still got some kind of reward. This is opposed to 1 and 2, where oftentimes you would go to explore some corner or throw your partner up high and you would just reach a dead end.

Personally I loved this game waaaay above its predecessors; I loved those games to bits, and when I recieved this game as a Christmas present as a tiny child, I was blown away. It took everything that I loved about the previous games and roided it up. The prettier and slightly cleaner graphics, the adorable protagonists, the vast and varied levels, enemies and bosses.... as I said, every aspect, capitalised on. This is the first I've heard that a different team made it, as it so perfectly fitted with its predecessors. Watching this gave me insane nostalgia from my time playing this (on Game Boy, if I recall correctly?), so I'll be on the lookout for a hardcopy, else I'll just grab a rom. I completed this game as a dumbass kid, hopefully I can do so as a dumbass adult. Last notes, I personally see Kiddy as a sort of 'pug' character; something that looks and acts stupid enough to be adorable. Also, while the Koins weren't hugely inspired, I found them a welcome change from simply another floating coin to collect.

This is the first and only video I've seen from you, and while I personally feel that you're a little too flashy with transitions, merch-pushing, and the intro, I appreciate that you've shed light on this game. Your favorite game of all time is DKC 2, and mine is actually this one. It is fantastic, and much more metaphorically, "colorful" than the other two

7:45 As humorous as that image is, there's a fan game in the works called DKC4, and they did NOT remove Dixie to keep the pattern... instead, they brought in every one of the four DKC protagonists as player characters, complete with custom instruments to play at the end goals.

Thanks for the reminder of why the the new game+ episodes are better than the first run through which were removed from the channel. A pain in the butt for Jirard to do but it cuts out the worst part of the early episodes.

Jirard has stated that DKC2 will be the final ever episode of the Completionist. Once he decides to hang up his beard, that's the video he'll do.

But another thing I will say, this is one of my favorite video games on the SNES. For me with the trilogy, it's DKC 2 > DKC 3 > DKC 1, and I have a LOT of love and nostalgia with the first one, so that should say something.

I unironically love the first stage's music- its so calming, bouncy, and just suits the boardwalk so utterly perfectly. And I don't hate Kiddy either, never really understood why everyone does; sure he looks a bit silly, but gameplay wise he's no different to DK, and I love the added throw maneuvers you can do. DKC3 has my favorite music and world map in the series too :) It's like the Pacific Northwest but even better.

It's REALLY great to see people appreciate DKC3 more and more. Although I prefer it over DKC2, but I still LOVE it either way. It's not only become my favorite in the trilogy but my new all-time favorite game, it oddly feels like the sequel to Super Mario World I always wanted.

"But not every game has to be a revolution, they can just be evolutions" If you got a writer you need to pay him extra for that or if you do that on your own you need to reward yourself for that. Go to the place you like a lot and eat, sure it may be expensive but you did good work today. C'mon! You know you miss that colorful atmosphere. You earned it!
