I think the best argument is that the current DK is Cranky Kong's grandson, while DK Jr. is Cranky's son. Donkey Kong Jr. was made by Nintendo; and his games mostly had him rescuing his father (Cranky) from Jumpman Mario (Mario's father?), while the current DK (Rareware's) originated in Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. DK Jr. also got his own trophy in Melee separate from the current Donkey Kong.

Sabreman Stampede actually looked pretty awesome. Though it is it's a real shame Diddy Kong Racing never got a true sequel in Donkey Kong racing. I adore Diddy Kong Racing, and I believe Lee Musgrave when he said they could've made Donkey Kong racing something great.

Sabre Man Stampede looks like it could have been a cool game. Also, for some reason, it reminds me of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts somewhat with it's open world and riding animals like riding vehicles, kinda.

I hate Microsoft! Even that Sabreman Stampede game looked great, and those boneheads at MS ruined that game as well! Give them up Microsoft! It doesn't matter that you own the Rare licenses, they'll never be the same without the original Rare developers, and Nintendo's partnership and support!

Because Rare wasn't, and still isn't in creative control, ever since Microsoft bought them out. Microsoft interfered with many of the games Rare intended to make, including Banjo-Threeie, Banjo-X, Banjo-Racing, Conker's Bad Fur Day 2, Kameo 2, Perfect Dark 2, Savannah, and many more. Microsoft even interfered with the games Rare released, including Kameo. Kameo had so many great and additional transformations, levels, attacks, characters, and story elements, but Microsoft forced Rare to rush the game for release, and practically had them remake the game three times. Kameo was originally a completely different looking game for Gamecube, and it looked great, but Microsoft had them restart development for the Xbox's hardware, then right when Rare was about complete, Microsoft forced them to recode all of their content into an Xbox 360 format, with better graphics and so on. That pretty much forced Rareware to release the game in a rushed form. So much great looking content got cancelled, and it's even worse that Microsoft cancelled the sequel Rare was so excited to make. The worst part is, sneak peek video and concept art is unlockable in the game, for the players who get high enough scores throughout chapters. I earned all of them, and they made me drop my jaw. I was sad I would never be able to see any of the dropped content in playable form. Microsoft is a creativity killer, and have mainly become nothing but a company that relies too hard on sports, shooting, music, and other repetitive releases, which is sad to see. They own Rareware, one of the most innovative, and creative gaming studios, who have mastered many different game play formats, from arcade, puzzle, racing, action, multiplayer, fps, simulators, 3d and sidescrolling platforming, and so much more.

If you look closely at the text in all games, you find that it is in a completely differen't language that differes per what country it was released in. November should be Nintendo Month, there were A LOT of games released that month, and a few games are coming out this November for the WiiU and 3DS, alongside DLC for Mario Kart 8, and the whole anniversary of Donkey Kong Country. It's pretty insane and kind of makes sense why Donkey got some spotlight in Smash Bros' demos and videos, taking in mind the release date and all.

Actually, according to the current release of Super Smash Bros. states in the loading-info box the the Donkey Kong in "Donkey Kong Country" is the grandson of the Arcade Donkey Kong. I always thought Cranky Kong was the original Donkey Kong from the arcade game and Donkey Kong is just Donkey Kong Jr all grown up, I'm pretty sure that's mentioned in one of the games in a round about way 😃
