They can't just decide to play it worlwide, it has to be picked up by interestgroups (radio etc.) in other countries. The best way to gain fame is of course to be played in the US, but they RARELY take in music from outside their borders, which hinders a lot of great artists. It's the same reason the hit "am i wrong" is just now becoming popular in the US, while it's over 1 year old.

Mom introduced me to Donkeyboy and this song was one she used to play in the car whenever we were driving somewhere. She has been and continues to be the greatest support in my life and I can never be thankful enough for her belief in me. Kindest person on earth.
