This was Donna's greatest song, no question. Some say it was Last Dance, and that was a great song too, but MacArther Park by Donna Summer is one of the greatest songs of our lifetime. The energy of it is just magnetic. What a voice she had. Absolutely exquisite !! Compared to much of what passes for "talent" today, well, ... there is just NO comparison. RIP Donna. You and Whitney have just made Heaven a lot more fun, I am sure !!!

I agree, this is her best song, and last dance is a close second.

The queen of disco shined her brightest here. I love the music and lyrics, but Donna brought it home here in a way that cannot possibly be duplicated by anyone else. Her very best work ever!

This song was always the peak of the party in the late 70s! Donna Summer was not only a great singer, she was a symbol of a generation, an icon! Thank you Donna for your wonderful music. We will never forget you because you will always be linked to the best memories of our youth and the best times of our lives to!

Carlos Jorge Stöckel IMO the best Donna song of her career. Plus one of the best remakes ever of the classic done by Richard Harris a decade earlier. Even with her popularity during the so called disco era she underrated among the great singers of the 20th Century. What a shame she was selected to the Rock Hall of Fame after her passing. Donna was a favorite of my older sister. So Ms. Summer RIP.

I hung out at this Park on Wilshire Blvd in L.A. in the 70's and discoed to this Donna sweet song...Oh to be so young again! Donna, you made us so excited about life. I can see the Angel's in Heaven dancing into eternity with MacArthur Park...Hallelujah...

You're really lucky to have done that in the 70's. Today, MacArthur Park is just a former shell of itself, Sadly!

I cried the day she died because she led a fully glorious life and of course had such a great voice with a style which pulls one into her universe. I'm sure her husband and children miss her. Also, she is a Massachusetts born girl like me.

Spring was never waiting for us dear It ran one step ahead As we followed in the dance MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark All the sweet, green icing flowing down Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, nooooo I recall the yellow cotton dress Foaming like a wave On the ground beneath your knees The birds like tender babies in your hands And the old men playing chinese checkers by the trees MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark All the sweet green icing flowing down Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, nooooo [Instrumental Interlude] MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark All the sweet green icing flowing down Someone left my cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to make it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, nooooo

What a song, which was THE SONG when I came out, so to speak. I tried dating girls in high school, but knew I was gay. The first night that I nervously went to a gay bar, this song was at it's height. Then, Donna was the queen...and I was free... I have so many memories of the good times, from back in the day. I had friends who were dropping like flies from AIDS, but that was not my destiny... Today, I am with my partner of 10 years, and have seen her twice in concert. RIP, my beloved Donna

What a voice Donna was gifted with - I have loved her since buying my sister loves unkind 45rpm for Christmas on its release way back then ! - I had asked my Mom to spy on my sister to find out what I could get her ? - *"Loves Unkind by Tommy Summert"* - Where I live :- Yorkshire - England - *'Summat'* is slang for *'Something'*. So for the first week or so *The Queen of Disco was known as Tommy !* In our house - until I went to to buy her record the whole record shop that saturday afternoon were laughing at me ! - Probably still laughing now ? Thats when we found out Mom was going deaf too! Was so sad when donna died - She had been a part of our family for years - Even if she didnt know it -Our Tommy ???

My 20 year old daughter was living with me her Mom (my ex) had chucked her out ! - so she stayed withe me until things calmed down ! - I couldnt sleep one night - Went dowstairs to take my pain killers & While waiting was looking at a music programme about a Donna Summer release -" I will go with you" - "Con te partiro" - My daughter came down concerned about me ? Asked about what Donna was on TV at that time of night I told her -I get paid tomorrow And they have a copy in HMV ! Following day in HMV It had been sold ! -I was sickened been looking forwards to buying that - that night Ihad made the tea waiting for Jen to come home from work - She had the biggest smile on her face ! - " I have got a present for you "! -She said - For looking after me !!! Donna is always present in our family ( I could say) One way or another !
