Like many of the other comments, I fully agree that this song's content needed a longer treatment like its been given here. Its a rare thing when a song so perfectly captures a feeling, an idea, an experience of a time. I was born 15 years after Disco and listening to this im transported right into the late 70s.

Don't know why I'm surviving every lonely day When there's got to be no chance for me My life would end and it doesn't matter how I cry My tears of love are a waste of time If I turn away am I strong enough to see it through? Go crazy is what I will do If I can't have you, I don't want nobody baby If I can't have you ah ah, If can't have you I don't want nobody baby, if I can't have you ah ah Can't let go and it doesn't matter how I try I gave it all so easily to you my love To dreams that never will come true Am I strong enough to see it through? @rich_edwards792 жыл бұрын
Great song from a film that on rewatching, far from being a fun summer story about a bunch of guys going clubbing in NYC, is actually pretty dark, especially the scenes on the bridge toward the end. The gritty side of the disco scene and a million miles from the beautiful rich people of Studio 54. Hard to pick a favourite tune from the soundtrack, as they are all absolute bangers, but this one ranks pretty high for me.

I was twelve years old. Those were good times; those were very good times! This is music! The 70s and 80s produced music beyond description; it was wild with music! Those were the days of roller skating rinks; I believe (from memory) the skating rink closed at midnight or so; people would have stayed and skated for days, if they would have been allowed to. Today, where that rink stood, a Walmart stands. A Walmart stands where a music "factory" once stood. Is that progress? Love this music!!! 👍👍👍👍

The height of BeeGees mania saw Ms. Elliman soar to the top of the charts on this super catchy track. 😀✌️ Love the melodramatic horn-driven beginning (and really, all the rest of it, too;). Despite being an obvious hit on even a first listen, This was the fourth single from Saturday Night Fever - Underlining the wealth of tracks on the double-LP soundtrack to the smash movie .🍿 It finished as the 19th biggest hit of 1978 on Billboard.

The strings and horn arrangements really provide that additional layer of 'power' to this song. Horns have a special way of connoting you are experiencing an event.
