I just bought one refurbished in boring black from Donner for a $106 + tax. The guitar came in looking perfect and was pretty much set up. While this guitar is not the quality of an American Strat, it is as good or better than a Classic Vibe. Great fast playing neck and good single coil pickups. Where it falls a little bit short is with a kind of muddy humbucker. The good news is that you can split it. For $200 or less this guitar is a steal.

I have two American Strats and two Les Pauls and a few other guitars. I was looking to buy a new guitar...but just couldnt bring myself to pay the high prices these two companies are asking for their guitars. Their high prices are now driving me to look at other options. So I saw the various reviews on the Donner DST 400. I bought this exact guitar from Amazon. Four days later it arrived. I opened the box, tuned it up and it was ready to play. Actually I couldnt believe it. I played on it for a few days and it stayed in tune and had no issues. I am very happy with this guitar. After a week I decided to really put in some TLC on this guitar because it is a keeper. So I changed the strings and put some oil on the fretboard and polished it up. This guitar is very nice, and at $259.00 ..I saved $1300,00 if I had bought one of the two bigger named company guitars above. I am an intermediate to advanced player.....so when I whip this guitar out ,,,next time I play a gig..some of the guys will be surprised. I had a great experience with this guitar and hope you do too.

Okay, if it was a transparent blue like we see in the video. I don't think I could have resisted buying one. I have a black Donner (DST100 I think), it's a really good feeling guitar. I will be honest and say the electronics feel very cheap in mine, like a toy, but the way the body and neck feels is so good, it keeps me coming back. I would absolutely upgrade the electronics and switches if I really wanted to, but I don't. It's a good beater guitar for me to noodle on. If Donner ever made intermediate or pro guitar in the future with quality electronics I would jump on it. They have a good thing going for sure.

No, you don't want this one man. It was heavy and the string alignment wasn't the best. I like my DST-152 better.

I bought this guitar. The only issue I find is the neck flexes and you can hear it bend the notes. I bought mine thru eBay $220. For the money not a bad guitar.

I've been so confused every review of this they say it green and I wondered are they color blind or am I because it always looks blue in every video I've seen about the 400 series.🤔🙂👍

It's transparent teal green. Looks blue on certain cameras.

Sounds and looks like a great axe for the money man. I've written Donner and they sent to their CC my email but haven't heard a response. Trying to find a company to review products. I'm still too small yet. Hahah.

I think Donner has some little cheap pedals... see if they will send you one of those. You need to do a couple review videos to show the work you do. I think they see my other videos and trust me to review. I'd review something you buy. I reviewed that EART guitar, and I paid for it with my own money.... Same with the Harley Bentons.

@@HankCoffey I've reviewed all my guitars. But I don't use DSLR . I flooded with mainly my own music videos. Hahah. My views won't hit the 4k view hours yet. I need to start planning to upgrade equipment. But for now I'm phone only and daw for recording. I'll give that a shot too. Thanks man!! Great job!

@@robertclarkguitar thanks man, don't worry about equipment. All of my videos up until about a year ago were phone. And I don't use DSLR, I think those cams are on the way out. And, I got a $800 Sony camera, and returned it. Dang smartphone looked better. lol.

@@HankCoffey I ran across one of those Eart guitars used in a guitar shop. L.P. style trans blue custom joby like head stock binding and binding on the back like a Les Paul custom but flamed with trans blue on the back and front. Not a bad looking guitar. If I wasn't so broke right now I'd maybe pick it upbut I have 2 guitars I'm paying for right now so I guess maybe if its there after that. But them again I have a Gibson studio L.P. that I haven't been playing much so IDK maybe I'll leave it for someone else to get. If its there long enough and the price moves all bets are off.🤣🤣🤣

Amazon Q and A is saying "24.75 and "14 radias"... But I think that is LP spec. The DST guitars are "25.5 and feel more like a "9.5 radias. I don't think it's 14.

I am assuming they are but are the pickups ceramic magnets? Is the trem block full sized or is it one of those really little ones you get in the $100 Squiers?

I never looked at the trem block, it might say in the product description if the pickups are ceramic or alnico. I can't remember.

@@HankCoffey it doesn't say what the magnets are and the only thing it says about the trem block is cold rolled steel. Well if you ever do a up date you could show a up close picture of the single coils people should be able too tell by if they look shiny like crome or if they are a dull black gray like pencil led those should be AlNiCo . A picture of the back cavity will show the block claw and springs. Sorry I just get into all the components like a nerd.🤓 lol😆 🤘🖖👍

I don't have this guitar anymore, so there is no way to check. From the video and some pics I have, the single coils look Alnico. But, not 100% sure. The guitar was heavy and thick. I doubt it had little Squier sized parts in it. But, like I say, I didn't look on this one.

I like my 152 better. I got a nice light one. The 400 is supposed to be a better model.

@@HankCoffey I watched both videos. I like the looks of the 152 as well. The sunburst with the red pick guard is sweet. I’m just getting started with the guitar so I’m looking for an inexpensive electric

Cool, I like the 152 I've got. You will have to set it up. Lower the strings. The bridge pickup is low output for a humbucker. I had to raise it pretty close to the strings to get good output. Feels like the tuning gears could be a little better. Other than that, the 152 is great. I am keeping mine because I lucked out and got a super light one. If it were heavy, I'd sell it probably. I have too many guitars. lol. I sold the 400. It was heavy.
