I think the catfish is the biggest seller because Waipahu is filled with Filipinos who love eating fried catfish. The train theme is probably a nod to the nearby West Loch Rail Transit Station hence the name of the shopping center is The Shops at West Loch Station. Good review!

Good thinking! 👍 I only saw 2 African American groups, and Caucasians. I hope local folks support them and broaden their tastebuds. I could go for some fried bangus right now though.

Yummy!! I’m a definite rib person!!! Wished I lived on Oahu!!!

Aw where do you live? I love ribs too and will always most likely order them on a menu out of all the BBQ meats.

Yes so hard to find here. But Whiskey Smoke makes some awesome top notch Texas BBQ in Kailua.

Thank you for another delicious video Misty! Everything looked yummy, and I don’t find the price high. You get what you pay for, and being from Louisiana like me; I know it’s good! 😋😋😋

I'm always amazed about how much time and effort goes into making delicious bbq. $30 seems like a bargain. Thanks for another great recommendation.

Delish looking BBQ & soul food! About the price, it's not bad at all; when we go on our BBQ crawls thru Austin, Lockhart, and Luling (all within 60 mile radius) we spend at least $30 at each place (that's just for meat & maybe a side or 2, drinks not included). Mahalo, Misty, for another great find. Glad there's another mom & pop local place to check out! 🤙

Yay! Being that the Sunset Texas BBQ in Wahiawa has closed down, Donnie’s Bar-Be-Cue looks like it will be a convenient alternative. I’m ALWAYS on the lookout for good smoked BBQ! Mahalo for another killer review.😋
@FoodFiend2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I wish Sunset kept their old location too. More convenient instead of fighting the crowds in Kakaako. I think their Texas BBQ has stronger flavors since they use oak wood. But I enjoyed this Louisiana BBQ. Seems like they use fruit wood so it's a lighter smoke.

Mahalo Misty. My husband and I shared the Conductor’s Combo plate and it fed us perfectly. We have been enjoying your blogs as we always on the look out for good eats, especially on the Westside.

That's a typical price for good bbq and the same price as the lower 48. Looks great, love some good light smoke bbq as I'm not into heavy smoke or liquid smoke.
@FoodFiend2 жыл бұрын
Oh good to know that the price is the same as over there. I think you'd enjoy this place if you ever come back here. 😊

I personally love legit Southern BBQ. Growing up, they never really had that in Hawaii -- most barbecue there had lots of Asian flavors. A little overly sweet, with shoyu, ginger flavors, or like the Char Siu. So, it's nice to see some legit Southern barbecues starting up over there. I kind of remember a good one out somewhere near the north shore, too. But $30 for a plate? Geez, I guess if it's really authentic, it's worth it. Or maybe forego10 plates and use the money to fly to Kansas City! 😀
@FoodFiend2 жыл бұрын
The plate is huge though so I think it's worth it. 😋 and yes glad there's a choice of BBQ joints here. Both TX and Southern types. All we need is a Carolina BBQ spot.
@steveandyoung2 жыл бұрын
@@FoodFiend And, of course, a Kansas City spot (I speak from experience -- they really have the best BBQ, and they used to have my favorite Soul Food restaurant in the country).

@@steveandyoung You're so lucky you get to travel often! 5 more years until retirement for me. I can't wait! I would say Kansas City and Twxas BBQ are my favorites. My Carolina friends are going to kill me but not a fan of vinegar and mustard based BBQ.

@@FoodFiend Not retired yet, but I've been traveling quite a bit sinde I was in my 20s. I just figured I would make the time, and not wait until I was so old that I could not walk everywhere. Besides, I love my job and don't see myself retiring any time soon.

Good day Food Fiend...I went back to one of your videos in 2021 where you were at a 7 Eleven store and picked up various foods... I really enjoyed that video... The 7eleven`s in the mainland don`t have that kind of food or drinks at all... we suck..lol. Will you plan to do another 7eleven food video in the future????
